I went and had a meeting with one of the Admissions Advisors (salesman) at one of the local CDL schools. He said that Stevens was a good company because I could run 3-4 weeks at a time, and then be home for 5-7 days before going back on the road. That sounds pretty good to me, but other posters on this forum are saying it's more like 4-5 weeks out, and 2-3 days at home. What's the deal?
Home time?

You'll find out as you gain more exp, what salesman, recruiters whatnot say and what companies/dispatchers do are 2 different things.Don't listen to that salesman. What's he know hes not a driver nor doesn't work directly at Stevens.Stevens is like any other company, plan on staying out 4 weeks at least and home I to 1and a half days for every week out.
-
Also when you put in 2 weeks request to get home on a certain date because of let's say a doctors appointment. You can pretty much guarantee that you will get home a day or three after the appointment.
-
Company policy is 1 day off for every 7 out with a maximum home time of 5 days. You can take as much time at he as you want in reality, but they do not want their trucks sitting idle. In other words you will have to clean the truck out and you will be assigned another when you return.
I have found it takes a load or two to get rolling in the freight lanes from where I live in Delaware, so I stay out a minimum of 5 weeks just to make some cash. I am not 100% positive but I think you can go home every 3 for 3 days if you like.Steampunk Thanks this. -
Most companies do not want their truck sit more than 3 days for Home time. If you will be more than 3 days some make u empty it out and get assigned anther when return

ya see salesman leaves a lot out to the potential students.

OK, so the reason your getting so many different answers here is that not everyone answering actually works at Stevens and they are talking in generalities. So ....
As Kmac said ... Company policy is 1 day off for every 7 out with a maximum home time of 5 days. If you need to take more than 5 days it takes special permission and you will lose your truck and have to be reassigned a different one. Dont count on this happening often. So you need to plan on being out 4 to 6 weeks at a time and then home for 4 to 5 days.Emulsified, nascarchuck, KMac and 1 other person Thank this. -

I have to wonder?
Just how much money did you make in that 14 day period?
Boy, I bet you showed them. They will have to file chapter 11.
