I am a company driver, And just because I perfer paper logs, why would you or anybody else assume I would cheat, because you said IF I log it as it happens..I sign my logbook under the penalty of perjury that "I haven't falsified any thing...The arguement that they are easier to use is bogus... How hard is it to count ? ...

It's cool that you prefer paper logs over electronic logs. I get that you don't like to be broad brushed with the insinuation that drivers on paper logs all cheat. However, I think you might want to consider that you are broad brushing all companies who have every right to install EOBR's in their trucks in a similar but reverse fashion.
I gave some positive reasons above as to why I prefer using EOBR's. Do you have any problems with what I shared? -
no I dont have a problem with any company that chooses to use them for whatever reason...I have a problem with the four big major players Knight,Werner, and a few others that are on board with the law makers to make them mandatory for ALL..when they say its for safety, when clearly it is not...There was an interview with CEO kevin knight claiming EOBRs are so great my drivers the safest blah, blah, blah....Even trucks with EOBRs still crash & kill people..thats all my gripe is..10/4??

In case you haven't been paying attention, due to CSA it's a common problem. Things the DOT man let drivers get away with for years are now getting written up and has been proven time and again on this here board, some drivers will NEVER get it until they get beaten over the head with the info. The company I'm at had no safety person til I started less than a year ago, mail drivers got complacent cause they rarely got checked. CSA changed all that.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this.

I have EOBR, but on occasion use paper because of switching a truck that has a different system, so they can't transfer. I prefer paper for the simple fact it's less stressful. I don't have to worry about changing status exactly when I get to the shipper/cons/guard shack. Pull into a stop, fueling or whatever. We aren't allowed to edit as a couple months ago, so it's worse now. I don't forget often, only a couple times, but a few weeks ago, I forgot to go off duty wen I went in to get my shower. I called out night dispatch who is supposed to be able to edit, (safety dept) in the day. They wouldn't do it even being able to see the truck hadn't moved. I was leaving before safety got in, in the morning but legally couldn't, because it screwed my 10 hrs up.
volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
I mean when the arguement turns to ..their so eazy to use, they count your hours for you and everything ...that is getting away from the SAFETY reasons of why they should be mandatory .but like you said thd FEDS got a big stick & they will use it too.

I get that. No problem. However, those four major players you listed are only a blip on the radar screen. Many companies are transitioning to them for a host of different reasons other than "SAFETY". 10/4?

PLEASE RE-READ what I had posted, I NEVER said anything about you cheating, what I said was, IF you turned in "perfect logs" EVERYTIME. I was alluding to the fact that most drivers DO make form and manner mistakes, THEREFORE, logs are NOT PERFECT.
Also I stated that it DOES make a difference on a liability level, NOW, if you would, answer my question, are you O/O, OR do you have drivers under your authority? IF you are a company driver you have NO IDEA just how many mistakes come in everyday, there are #### few drivers that turn in PERFECT logs ALL the time!
Thank You,
Stan -
There might be some perks like you have stated but the biggest mistake you have stated is thinking the company can NO longer "stretch you like a rubber band". In fact now that the you log via an electronic device in which the company controls they are the ones that can edit any and all information. Whether you like it or not the EOBRS can and will lead to company's "stretching drivers like rubber bands". They are just a tool such as a calulator is. It should be the owners choice whether they use either one.
