I'm in orientation and I'm a little confused for instance say you roll up to the gas pumps and your gonna be waiting a while u should log off duty then back on when fueling. The guy is saying you need to save your 70 whenever possible but just wondering if situations such as that and I just used that as a quick example but would all this on and off duty fly with dot?
HOS???

i used to stay off duty.
my job is done in less hours than most everyone else, so as a result, i do not do the 30 minute break.bamalife123 Thanks this. -
Technically you log line 4 on duty or rather your elogs will probably log you line 4.For me if there's like a long line I would log off duty.If only a couple trks probably line 4 or remain on line 3 till I'm ready to fuel then log line4.

Normally yes but if you think you'll be fueling in a few minutes then those extra few minutes aren't going to hurt your hours. But with a long line which could be over a half hour I would log off duty.bamalife123 and seanjames653 Thank this.

I log 5 min for fuel then go off duty.
Xzay, flood and bamalife123 Thank this. -
on duty:
fuel- 7 to 10 minutes
pre/post- 10 minutes
load/unload- 10 to 15 minutes
DOT inspection- 15 minutes
It mostly depends on Safety dept or elog person on how they want drivers to log on duty time.
You have to save your 70 hours. Dont Waste too much on duty.bamalife123 Thanks this. -
Oh they will go over this in classroom right?bamalife123 Thanks this.
