My girlfriend and I want to start team driving but we have a few problems,
neither one of us have a CDL
i'm only 20 years old (shes 23)
she has 2 accidents on her record from this year (one her fault, one not)
is it even possible for us to get a start anytime soon?
My father owned a trucking company for a few years while I was growing up so I have some experience and desire to do this.
Thanks
How can we start?

Thanks for the information Flood, looks like we got a few years for anything to take off, is there any loop holes or advice you can think of?
-
start checking around with companies that hire new driver and be honest with them about everything..... see what they say
but it doesn't look goodblairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Hi, first off never give up. Your a couple of years off of anything Truck. That don't mean you can't read, watch stuff on YouTube, learn all you can together. If you want it that bad you will get it.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
saddletramp is right learn LEARN all you can....
when you do go to truck driving school (and you will) you should know (on paper) almost as much as the teachers do..... read every thing you can about trucking
what school is the best
price, training..... cdl mills = BAD, trade schools/community collage = good (some are better)
what company will FIT YOU the best
what we think about a company doesn't matter if you like them, we will point out the bad points but it's up to you if you can live with it.
can the 2 of you stand being in a room the size of a bathroom 24/7 for weeks at a time and not kill each other......? not joking a truck sleeper is that small....
at some point are you going to have kids....? something to think about.... what will you both do then...?blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
flood, Bless you. It's an art. You better love each other. I recommend you do it. The rewards are great, The pain is real, it's called life. See the U.S.A. and get paid for it. We Did. Honey, get out of 14th gear, We don't need another speeding ticket.

Both of you can get warehouse/forklift driving jobs. It's good experience to learn the other side plus you'll learn how to load a truck properly, get a little Bill of Laden knowledge and talk to a whole bunch of truck drivers.
I was a warehouseman for 7 years before I started driving. They don't teach that stuff in school but as a driver you use that knowledge everyday. -
Swift hires 21 year olds. Apply, whatcha got to lose?
-
Watkins Shepard hires at 21 as well. That would be the one I'd try first.
