Been browsing the info on here for a while, very handy indeed.
I work for a shop in Fort Collins, CO.
I'm 23 and have been working as a tech for 3 years now at the same shop where I was hired on under a 25+ year veteran of the heavy-duty diesel world and learned what I could from him before he went back to the dealer. I have been doing my own work on family and personal vehicles, light-duty diesel and gas, since 15. Understand this probably brings a lot of doubt as to my abilities, but so far I would say I'm doing alright. Trying to learn what I can from the experienced folks around me, not really afraid to say I have no idea whats going on if I think I can learn out of it.
In charge of maintaining and inspecting the Sara Lee fleet from Fort Collins, to Torrington, to Laramie, mostly powered by B-series Cummins and various International powerplants. So far have a lot of happy drivers and very few complaints or comebacks. In charge of maintenance of several tree care companies trucks, mostly powered by Cat's and Internationals, as well as 2 tow truck companies, primarily Int'l and MB. We have a small number of owner/operators of Class 8's that come in for us to work on, and again, very few complaints. Cat's mostly, but I have had to rework the valvetrain on a 91 N14 (the compressor drive is ridiculous on the NT, N14 family!)
I have in-framed a handful of DT466's, and am currently in the process of doing so on a 5EK 3406E. Every day is a classroom, and I have a long way to go, just going a day at a time.
