Was reading an old thread about some wheel straps you bought in Laredo that had a 5400lb WLL.
Looking to buy some and all I am finding are rated for much less. Was wondering if you remembered where you bought them or what brand they were.

I don't think that his had that WLL. It would have to be a 4" strap for that and his were only 2". I have not seen any over 2" either.
Besides, if you have 4 say 3,000 pound WLL wheel straps you are looking at 12k total WLL. For the design of those and what they were made for you have more than enough for a vehicle. -
Maybe they didn't but I was pretty sure that is what he posted. Anyway he said he was really happy with them so I was looking to try and get the same ones. I need to buy 8 of them and didn't want to get some that were junk. There are quite a few different brands and prices out there.
Regarding the 12k I have a pickup truck I haul that has a flat bed, aux diesel tank, air compressor, tools etc and it may push that 12k especially if the welder happens to be on it. -
And you are good with 6k of securement on it but since it is over 10k you will need to have 4 points of securement. The straps may be 3k WLL but that means they have a breaking strength of 9k.

Pretty sure those wheel straps would count as direct tie downs so that would be 6,000 aggregate WLL which is good for a 12k truck but not a pound more. Pretty sure the truck is over 12 with the welder on it.

I got them from Swift. They have a yard there where they load the sprinter vans.
Tag is long since gone and the one thats left has long since faded. Do not recall brand.. but despite being 2"..they said 5400lb on them. Thats why I liked them so much. 2 yrs old and have held up well. I use them on just about anything with wheels.. besides large equipment.
I was browsing online the other week and came a cross a site that had wheel straps rated 12,000 lbs.
Cant see it very well.. using them here on latest wheel strap load on a loaded down F550 crew cab.

If that tag is gone or not readable then you can get dinged for insecure load. Just be careful with those now.
Hurst Thanks this. -
I am looking for new ones myself.
Been pretty lucky so far regarding DOT. Not doing anything wrong,.. a few things they could nit pick if they wanted to ding me. Wyoming POE hassled me over a machine having the slow moving vehicle triangle on the back. Said I needed to cover it as people might get confused. I didnt know pot was legal in Wyoming too?

Thanks. I wonder if those 12k ones you saw were 12k rated (breaking strength) and a lower WLL.
I see those 2" straps in Home Depot all the time that say 10,000lb rates in real big letters and you read the fine print and they have a 3,333lb WLL.
