First off I have browsed through some of the threads here, have checked their website also and still have questions. Their website wasn't much help as far as pay, hiring requirements, etc.
He got his CDL through CR England and is in training with them for the next month or so. He is wanting out of there as soon as he finds something better. he really wanted Maverick but at this time he didn't qualify.
    So my questions are:
What exactly are the requirements? Do recent CDL grads need a certain amount of experience? In their ad it didn't mention any, just said recent grads welcome.
What about employment history? Maverick requires a steady year with same company; hubby had 9 months.
We live in northeast Arkansas. If he gets accepted to go to orientation, where would they send him for that?
Which division should he shoot for if he wanted weekly home time; regional or dedicated? How good are they about giving weekly home time? He would be doing solo, not teams.
How much do they pay inexperienced drivers after training once they go out on their own? How long is training and is there any possibility he'd be able to come home on weekends during training? If not, how long would he most likely be gone for training and such until he was able to come home?
How does Orientation work? I know pretty much the schedule but do they stay in a room provided by USXpress? Are any meals provided? A shuttle or anything if they needed to go anywhere? Do they get paid for orientation or just after they get to driving?
All in all, how good are they to work for?
I'm just trying to find the best match for him.

Any input or help is appreciated :)

Is he under contractual obligation to England since they provided schooling for his CDL?

No, he will just have to pay for the schooling out of pocket if he doesn't drive at least 9 months for them.

that means he's under contract to drive for them. therefore, the answer would be YES.

let me try to give you some actual useful information. living where you do it is most likely he would go to either Olive branch Ms. or dallas tx for orientation. Im not positive they still do it in Olive Branch Ms. He would want to stay at least 3 months after training at england to keep from having to go through training again at USX. sometimes even that doesn't garantee it just depends on each situation. I have seen it go both ways up to 6 mos experience. they will take him straight out of cdl school however he will just have to spend some time with an otr trainer. USX pays on a sliding scale except for dedicated stuff then it depends on the account but most accounts pay 34 cent per mile. the sliding scale ranges from 32 to 38 cpm depending on length of haul so the farther the trip the less per mile it pays. I am not sure what if any dedicated accounts Usx has for your area but they do have an agent that runs a terminal in little rock and for the weekly hometime thing they may be your best bet. They name of that company is Beech and the person to talk to is named Rita. With them he would work for Beech but have to be approved by Usx since they run under the USX banner so to speak. Now I just let you in on a little known secret about them. Most Usx drivers dont know they exist and thinks USX owns that terminal, that is the few that actually know it is there. USX is not a bad company to get started with in this business. Once you get used to this life you can make decent money here. one thing I have never done is make money and be home every week. that doesnt mean it cant be done it just means I live in a crappy place for it. You may also want to look at Cal Ark in little rock ( mablevale actually). I have worked for them also. I'm not sure what their requirments are but its not a bad company, pay is decent and they have alot of freight that runs through your area which would make the hometime thing easier for him to pull off. may even be able to come through the house once or twice a week with them depending on exactly where you live in north east ark. If not to far off 55 it can happen. I hope this info has helped. Good luck

Opps didn't mean to post that twice. I also didnt answer all your question. No they don't seem to care how long you were with last employer. Dedicated is always better for hometime but where you live I can't think of any accounts that would do that for ya. There may be one cause they got so much going on its hard to keep up with all of them. The best dedicated accounts at usx are closely guarded secrets. Usually you stumble on them totally by accident. Yes rooms are provided, lunch is usually provided and they do have shuttle vans. orientation is 3 days and if memory serves correctly I do believe it is paid but it wasnt much. if he has to go out with a trainer it will be 3 to 4 weeks worth. training pay is just enough to say you get paid. it wont pay your bills. I used to train here and I was always amazed at how broke the students were. in most cases they were out of work while doing cdl school and was broke when they got there. just a product of todays economy i guess but it takes a while to recover.

Give these guys a call, don't see any experience requirements on their site. I have not found an unhappy Melton driver(on the road read about a few on here but never talked to one on the road).
