I need help please...

    Hi, this is kind of a long story. I was just fired yesterday from my job delivering cigs, tobacco, and other convenience store items. My grandpa had broken his hip and I went to the hospital with him and missed 3 days. They fired me yesterday so I went and signed up for unemployment, but I am almost certain it will be denied. The job was driving sprinters and box trucks. It paid 9 dollars an hour. I am worried because I only have 150 dollars to my name after I pay my bills out of the last check I will get. I have always wanted to be a trucker and was planning on working there for another year and saving up enough to go to trucking school, oh well I guess life happened. I just don't want to work another job I am not happy with and want to follow my dream. I only have 150 dollars though. I am so worried and I have never been this depressed. I am also on low dose BP meds and my DOT card expires in February. I am almost in the process of being treated for Sleep Apnea. I have a sleep test scheduled for the end of the month but I don't know if I will go through with it because I know I will not be able to afford it. Any help or suggestions guys? Thanks. I also do not have a cdl or cdl permit and I reside in Kentucky.

    This is a good plan(one we all set for ourself) but it doesn't sound like you're in the most comfortable position to pick and choose. Do what you gotta do right now and build some cushion for yourself, then re-evaluate your position. You've got quite a few steps to go until you would be in a truck and earning money, so weigh that against getting a job that you don't like much but will be bringing in money much sooner.

    The god news ... At $9 an hour you can make that during training after you complete school portion, at just about any training company ... just find one you can get on with as soon as possible.

    The bad news, the sleep apnea. It can be overcome, but it will probably take some time to mitigate it.

    Sleep Apnea thing is a bear to get used to but once that happens it's old hat, Ask me how I know... Take care of the home front and get a job for now until you can get into training WITH a clear mind. You will be miles ahead. Too much added baggage will not do you well in training.

    When your Grandpa broke his hip, did you just not show up for work or did you call in and tell them you had a family emergency and needed time off?

    Just go and get you a job somewhere tomorrow, even if it's fast food. You've got to get some income flowing. Once you are back above water, then you can start toward a better career choice.
