Yes, I have come across that old geezer attitude before. Facts and truth aren't important. Just your ego. But I do know there are some GOOD old truckers out there in spite of your efforts to lower the standard.

OK, I stand corrected. What I said was absolutely true 7 years ago which was the last time I drove an 18 wheeler. But these new Haldex automatic brake adjusters do work differently. And backing up would do nothing to adjust the new Haldex automatic brake adjusters. I hope I am wrong about other things as well. I did not like the lack of professional behavior I saw in the majority of truckers while I was driving and I hope that has changed as well. And while some implied I was a sorry truck driver, the vast majority of you were worse. Most of you would just hook up to a trailer and run with it without looking back and you know it. I also know that many, if not most of the trailers being pulled today still have those old automatic brake adjusters on them unless they have been switched out as well. I still see many old trailers on the road. And I have never seen any new upgrades on an old trailer.

I'm trying to understand how with only 6 years experience you stand in judgement of those that have a much more intimate knowledge of driving a truck. Also , how do know that most drivers just hook-up and go...again with only 6 years experience you have only been witness to a very, very small slice of what goes on in the trucking world. Especially if you've been gone for 7 years.....that alot of stuff to know in such a short time span.

Oh, that is simple. I got eyes in my head and I know what I see. There are good veteran truck drivers out there but many veteran truck drivers aren't good truck drivers. Sure, you had to be good enough to stay out of serious accidents and that is to your credit, but there are a number of you still on the road because you fix your tickets rather than drive safer.

I'm gonna disagree there too....you figure the actual number of miles driven by truck drivers in a year....and then compare the number of serious accidents that they are involved in per year and I'll think you will find that for the most part ( with a few exceptions ) that CDL class A holders are as a group pretty safe drivers.

I wasn't comparing apples to oranges. Sure, your average truck drivers is a better driver than your average four wheeler. But some of you veteran truck drivers are just plain bad truck drivers and shouldn't be driving. I have seen many older truck drivers in the ditch because they chose to drive too fast in a snow storm and many many older truck drivers who chose to drive 80 mph in a headwind going westbound on I-80 and getting blown off the road. "Oh, it just came out of nowhere and blew me off the road!" As if driving too fast for the wind conditions had nothing to do with it. I saw many older truck drivers tailing a small car less than a car length behind even though that car was going faster then the speed limit. Just going too slow for that old veteran trucker I guess. Yes, most of you aren't that bad but too many are. Your age and experience has nothing to do with it. Driving safely is what matters.

Again, you are assuming that because a person is older, and driving a truck , they are an old veteran. You really need to not judge folks on their looks man, there are tons and tons of folks that are past being middle-aged just getting into the business...for lots of reasons too..... early retirement from the military , laid off from a desk job , or just the victims of down-sizing or this terrible economy that we're all trying to survive. Granted that some drivers that have decades of experience drive like maniacs...they sure do, but to say that an older person is a bad veteran driver just because they look that way is sort of silly at least to me. I'm 63 , and I drove for a really long time, but that doesn't make me an "old veteran" with bad habits......Some of these "newer" drivers are being "trained" at companies that make "trainers" out of drivers with less than 2 years of driving themselves...that is the dumb training the dumber....really bad thing IMHO....those are the drivers that you are seeing more than likely.

Thank you. I have never heard of Joel Wallach before and there are many alternative health supplements that do not work as I can personally attest to. But there are a few that are helpful. Something different might work. But I just keep on living though my doctors keep saying "DIE! DIE! DIE!"
