Cosgrove, you do not report personal conveyance miles to IFTA. Call IFTA and ask them, they're very happy to answer all your questions. I've been doing IFTA for a long, long time. I got a IFTA audit when I switched from semi trucks to Hotshots approx 12 years ago. That was because I was getting better fuel mileage with my hotshot. The increase in mileage sent up a red flag and triggered an audit. IFTA audits are nothing to worry about unless you're purposely trying to cheat IFTA. By the way purposely cheating IFTA is considered tax fraud.
And in all the years I've had IFTA I don't think I ever had to pay more than $20.00 in a single quarter. Alot of times IFTA ends up owing me. The best IFTA advice I can give you is to purchase fuel in every state that you travel in. If you try to avoid buying fuel in higher priced states you still end up paying those states tax rate when you do your IFTA quarterly reports.
