Hey guys,
I got another truck last week and paid the plates and got the temps by email. Well now my driver wants to go on the road very early on Monday but I did not get the plates or the IFTA sticker yet. Can he still take it on the road without the sticker? I had the plates/sticker overnighted on Friday but it wont be here until probably 3pm on Monday. Since the truck is added to the DOT system I would think it is ok for me to send him out to the Chicago area to pick up a trailer and get a load out of there? I dont think anyone works today for me to call but will try once I get to the office.

No valid sticker or plates or Temp. reg. displayed will result in fine and truck getting parked.
So up to you....Jerry12 Thanks this. -
If you don't have the plates on the truck....I'd say no.
And you need the ifta on the truck or a temp permit in the truck.
I wouldn't take the truck off your property . -
Do you know if I can get the temp permit online on the dot website by any chance?
-
I have the temp registration i can have him tape to the window but just dont have the sticker yet. I am assing it should be fine with temp registration? If pulled over they should be able to tell that the ifta sticker is on its way or that the truck is legal just does not have the sticker yet..?
-
If you already have an ifta account you probably can.... I'm not good with computers...
Edit......

But i have the temp plates which i can stick on the window? All i need him to do is pick up the trailer and get a load back towards iowa and i should have the plates and sticker for him once he is in iowa as i can meet him on the road.

Until permanent decals are affixed to the vehicle, an IFTA temporary decal permit may be issued and will be valid in all member jurisdictions. The temporary permit is valid for 30 days. The temporary permit is vehicle specific and shall be carried in the vehicle.
In addition, the IFTA license must be in the vehicle to validate the temporary permit.
Failure to display the identification decals and to have a copy of the IFTA license in the vehicle may subject the vehicle operator to the purchase of a trip permit and/or citationBlackshack46 Thanks this. -
If, you have a Temporary IRP premit, keep the plate Visible...dashboard window will suffice.

Thanks. I have the ifta license and temp tags just need to figure out if i can get the temp ifta permit but more than likely I will have to have him wait before I send him on the road.
