What every driver should do is, before you leave the yard (especially with a new truck) check all paper work. If any are expired or close to being expired, let the company know, so they can get you updated paper work.. If they tell you to drive it anyway, say "NO", because once you leave the yard you are totally responsible.. When I tell my company that my cab card, or what ever is getting close to being expired, they always have new ones for me within a few days. Just don't wait until the last day to inform them..

If your get a ticket for any reason it is all yours. the driver is responsible to make sure that there equipment is safe and legal. If it's not the it is your responsibility to make sure it is BEFORE you drive it.

A temporary IFTA permit is accepted in all states. I have bought and sold trucks that I needed temp permits and never had a problem in a DOT inspection or road side check. The trucks didn't have any DOT number or company names on the side so I was a easy target for a inspection. Where Penske screwed up was sending you the paper that goes with the sticker that was suppose to be on the truck. They should of applied and got a temp permit for the truck and then this ticket would of been avoided. You just would of had to get a actual sticker on the truck in with in 30 days (I think that is the time limit).
