Are those light mounting points part of the trailer frame or separate bolt ons?

Haha. I’d say she’s seen a bit of salt and met a few dock bumpers in her time.

They are boxes that are welded in.

In time they rot away and they have to be replaced.

Good to know, was wondering how the frame could look so straight yet lights are falling off.

DOT bumper is another story with the tie straps...

The DOT are now including the structural integrity of the DOT bumper as part of an inspection. That one sure wouldn't pass.

Oh goody, more items the incompetents get to enforce with no clue how they actually work. At least a t/a tech SUPPOSEDLY knows how things work, the dot, very few are qualified to do the paperwork, much less inspect a truck beyond the most obvious and flagrant violations

The guy that gave me a ticket on the 13 year old trailer that had reflector tape from the factory 100% the whole way down each beam... because it wasnt on the outer rubrail or right below it.

The county that refuses to issue a county oversize permit and the 2 county cops that therefore pop every load that is on a county road for .1 mi before the ohio state permit kicks in... (the cops in that case are not dumb, but boy are they a-hats)

The dot cop that pulled me over for not signalling my right hand turn into the parking lot to register/plate my truck to me (was registered under the company i was leased to for a year). Then when he discovered he was wrong about my not signalling, (theyre bright leds, but not visible if youre out of their 135 degree view window) proceeded to give me a FULL inspection, at the end of which he ticketed me for not signalling, and gave a fixit ticket for my rear of cab reflective tape not being in an "L" shape...

The texas guy that gave me a clean bill of health on a full inspection despite my pass fuel tank obviously leaking (that one he may have just been filling an inspection quota but didnt feel like doing the actual work of inspecting, also, it had sprung the leak in the last 2 hrs)

The mich dot that pulled me onto the us 23 off ramp when i was oversize to do a full inspection and tell me i needed another chain and all my chains spread out (he was not correct, 8 chains on an 80 footer is perfectly fine, overkill in fact for the weight, but 2 of them were direct attached to the crane one on each side, he just saw steel and wanted a chain every 10 foot..., not how you chain those on that trailer), this also put me past my running time for my permit, for which he didnt feel like so that was nice...

The guy that nearly ticketed me for not having an abs test light in my tractor (1994) and didnt know how to test trailer abs with a nonabs tractor (1995 is when it started to be required on tractors)

Just a sampling of my experience

Oh trust me i have a few of my own. I was more being snarky that some moron was eventually going to give me a massive ticket because something that literally CANT be on my trailer aint there because of the new regs.

That said my 2 all time favorites were getting a ticket for having "illegal" windshield washer fluid in my truck in cali. And the time they got me for illegal produce transportation because i had a bag of apples, peaches, pears and several other fruits in my fridge for snacking on i picked up from a farm i delivered to...also in cali.
