I have to take a load through Indianapolis on Interstate 65 this week heading down south and I noticed last week when I was in the area there was a lot of closures notices for the interstates in downtown Indianapolis. I remember going down in my personal vehicle last year and had to go around on another interstate. Am I able to go through on interstate 65 through downtown Indianapolis without issues? I am currently making a trip plan and any help would be appreciated.

Last time I went through Indy, you needed to take I-465 loop. I-65 is closed downtown.homeskillet and Chieftains Thank this.

Just take circle (465) around.
Exit 123 on 65, you will get on circle (465) then get back on 65.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
They close that down a lot. I always use the bypass. Those Midwestern states love shutting everything down.

Thank you I believe that is the interstate I took last time I went through there. I didn't see it on my routing instructions.
D.Tibbitt and austinmike Thank this. -
Yes at the 123 take 465 south to exit 0 where you pick up 65 south.
They are redoing 65 and 70 through downtown. Been closed for a year or so. I can't remember the reopen date. Its Nov this year or May of next year.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
That's been going on for over a year now.

I head south from Chicago to Cincinnati. I65 is open to I70 east. I70wb/65sb is being completely replaced. Even before this closure, if I was heading to Alabama, there was a 50/50 chance that I would take 465 to avoid that downtown mess.

They are suppose to be redoing that mess. The original design flaw is finally being replaced. Before on both 65 and 70 you come into downtown and to stay on your current route you would have to move all the way right or left in a mile and a half. That will no longer be the case.

i especially like how traffic is forced to 465 then lane closures on that for bridge replacement. let's add 40% more traffic to this already outdated and overloaded road... and then close some lanes.
