My FIL has found a potential engine for his next project. Engine is in a 352 Pete. Looks like a BC1, to me. Tag says NTC 400, CPL 363 and engine # 19832855. My CPL book says it’s a NTA 360. Help explain this to me. IMG_7078.jpeg IMG_7079.jpeg

I don’t have the book to look it up, but I would say it’s would sound about right, I still have my 1979 K100 here at home parked. It’s CPL 369 and it was born a BC 1 350. I had the injectors replaced non top stop, fuel pump recalibrated to match the injectors and a HT 4B turbo. These engines you can play with, long as you kept the pyro down or on the money (900), it would run. @OLDSKOOLERnWV @BoxCarKidd @SmallPackage

I took this pic and I’m not sure that a genuine Cummins tag or a rebuilders tag. My FIL is interested in it, if it’s a good core. Rolled over fairly smooth at the accessory drive and I cracked the oil pan plug to make sure no coolant or water was at the bottom.

Just curious as to why the numbers on the tag, don’t correspond with the numbers in the book.

Here’s 0369. It appears to be in the same “family” by sharing the same camshaft(the most critical), injectors and turbo(not as much of a factor). Don’t understand why they’d stamp “400” on the tag for 363 CPL? IMG_7086.jpeg

I take that back, injectors are said to be different and timing is, AW-.060 on the 363 and the 369’s timing is BU-.065.

The tag on the engine says, “Cummins Missouri”, so I’m wondering if this engine went through a certified rebuilder and they built(timed) it to NTC 400? IMG_7078.jpeg

This engine has the large oil cooler, aluminum oil pan but has a pulse manifold. Both BC1’s and 2’s, used the large oil cooler but only the BC2 used the pulse manifold, with the large oil cooler. On the other hand, it has the aluminum oil pan and I thought Cummins quit using that, with the BC2’s. Of course, all these items can interchange from small cam to BC2.
