We've had this truck for about a year and been fairly happy with it but we've had the same issue all along.

The bunk AC seems incapable of operating at a separate temperature from the front.
Or perhaps it's simply can't keep the truck cool as a whole. During the Winter we didn't pay much attention to it but now the weather is getting warmer the truck quickly becomes uncomfortable.

If both the bunk and cab AC are turned to the coldest settings with fans at a moderate setting we have reasonably cold air coming out of the vents.
If we adjust the cab controls to be anything less than the coldest setting then the bunk starts putting out warm air.

We've also noticed that it seems to be intermittent. Sometimes it will be icy cold and sometimes it's as if it's not working at all.

Tried to have our local International look at it at one point and they said that's just the way these trucks are. I hope that's incorrect because in 20 years of driving this is the first truck I've ever had that you couldn't control the bunk and the cab separately.

All of the controls seem to operate separately. The output is simply not reliable.

Even though there are two separate control panels between the cab and sleeper, they are not separate systems. The a/c for the cab is the same cooling system for the sleeper. The sleeper does have it's own evaporator, but it will only cool if the cab system is turned on first. This is why you see that message in the cluster to turn on the front system when the rear is also turned on. The cab and sleeper are never meant to operate as separate hvac environments. They are intended to work in tandem with each other with the ability to make minor temp changes between both.
