If it runs off of a power outlet/cig lighter it's ok, beyond that I think the limit is supposed to be 300watts
-
Technically 180 watts is the maximum (15 amps x 12 volts)

Can inverters be installed or does it have to be via cigarette lighter
-
Company policy is only plug-ins.

Do the trucks have refrigerator s on them?

Lol......uh no.....

Get a good inverter you don't have to spend a bunch of money on it. Avoid cheapo truckstop inverters.
Small 150w inverter:
http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-PV...?ie=UTF8&qid=1407581992&sr=8-1&keywords=pv150 - "legal" by all of SNIs standards, plugs into cigarette lighter, fanless, makes no noise. Had mine for about 4-5 years now and still use it every day. Best small inverter I have ever used.
375w inverter:
http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-PV...?ie=UTF8&qid=1407581992&sr=8-2&keywords=pv150 - I wouldn't leave this one in a company truck if it was going in for a PM because it's technically over the wattage SNI allows (I believe they specify 180 watts?) Did I use this one in the company truck all the time? You bet I did, lol. TIP: I've found that the cigarette lighter socket on the Cascadias usually can carry more amperage than any of the other 12v sockets in the truck, due to its closer proximity to the battery (less wiring, less voltage drop) and maybe it has heavier gauge wire too, I didn't look. Use this one, with a more powerful inverter as the other sockets may not be able to supply enough juice. This inverter I have as well and has been great for over a year now. It does have a small fan that can be a little noisy but its much quieter than the cheap crap inverters.Time4Change Thanks this. -
If your thinking of running a Mr. Coffee or something like it with a plug in inverter, forget it.
