I've only been driving for just under 2 years, but i ask, is it worth pulling loads like this down the highway and through city, mainly the GTA for 15 bucks an hours.. i feel exploited, knowing that the same money has been made working in manufacturing with WAY LESS danger and risk. Would you accept that rate? by the way those are 60s on a 48 ft flatbed weighing around 70 thousand pounds.
Is it worth it?

Not only NO...but HELL NO.
You're doing yourself a diservice as well as your brethren in this industry by working for a company that wants drivers to work cheap.
AT MINIMUM...BARE MINIMUM...you should be getting not a cent less than $19/hr -
Thanks for the reply snafu, my thoughts were pretty much the same.
-
Yeah, I concur. $15 / hr in the GTA for hauling anything class 1 CDL is below standard, let alone over diminsional loads. Armour Transport, thru their hiring agency, Drake, start drivers off in HRM ( Halifax Regional Municl ) at about $17 / hr.

I was making 18.75 in 2008 doing local auto parts work for dry van. That load right there you should be in the $25-$30 range. It takes a highly skilled driver to handle oversize stuff like that. They can go ahead and pay you what you want or they can hire someone that doesn't know what they are doing and have a giant mess to deal with after.

Well the OP did say that he only has 2 years under his belt, so maybe they are paying him based on his experience. Bad idea to be swinging this around town unless you are well versed in OD loads...
-
Based on experience?^my first two class 1 jobs paid 18 and 20 bucks an hour. For 15 I would have stayed at the dealership I worked at changing oil having a 7-3 job with no stress lol.
-
Not everybody pays what your companies did...
-
There not worth working for then. Anything below that is crap
-
If its a local position, then it depends. Rate of pay is much higher in the northeast like Pa, than the rural south like La.
If its OTR then your rate is probably too low.
