Yeah, and as I got older I noticed all the cool kids either got thier brain fried from bad dope, locked up, or working graveyard at 7-11 while the uncool nerdy kids have a mulilti million dollar house on the side of a mountain somewhere. It pays to be cool.

I said Cool Kids, not stupid kids. Stupid people are suppose to die before they breed.

I went to school with this kid. Computer geek. Loved computers. Went to school to be a computer programmer. Got his big programmer job. I went back home and went to eat at this Chinese restaurant. Guess who the bus boy was? Apparently, when Windows came out, he was rendered obsolete overnight. Ever have to bus tables at Mr Wu's Chinese Buffet?

I believe it, Windows (or Windows marketing) has had a huge influence on things, and not for the better IMO.

Is it worth the extra hassle? For some.

It's what I learned around, so, it's what I know as far as "hassle" goes. The idea of slinging 10 chains is never exciting... for anyone... ever. I don't care how ###### you think you are, there's a point at which your arms, shoulders, hands, back, every bit is pissed at you for hanging that much on the load. But, by the same token, it isn't something I look at and say "too much work".

The biggest thing I think most people would have to get over is the nerves. 21 years old and I was running back into town just under 16-ft. tall hauling derailed coal hoppers (not heavy, but, over 15-6 tall and you best be watching bridges). The 11-feet wide, the rear overhang, none of that bothered me. It was the height. ###-puckering the first couple times I did it.

I'm no super heavy-hauler, but, I'm 22, haven't been around that long. Got to learn to drive from heavy haulers, and first went to work for one. The widest I got to do, 16-foot wide, was one of my favorite thanks to a construction zone. Loaded on a flatbed and just went right over the cones and barrels!

There was always a hassle with this or that, and rarely did it bug me. It was just getting comfortable with the size of what you were hauling.

Funny thing is, one of the loads that was the biggest hassle wasn't even oversize. 4 trench boxes that had been broken down, loading in the middle of the day, middle of summer, 90s or better on the temp. 17 straps and chains (I had two chains left, and no straps left) it was finally all tied down. THAT was a hassle.
