I just know it pithed off the mechanic, he mashed up my quarter fender replacing it a couple weeks back and Friday I woke up to having an A/C line rubbed through from that broken fender.
My dispatcher was nice enough that while they were waiting for the parts to come in, I was slipped into another truck for the first part of the week with a working AC. Dang was that nice running to MO and back to MN.
Today I looked it all over and the lines are replaced, the quarter fender is new and I have another new sputter valve (again) on the truck. Will be nice to see how it does come Thursday.
Is there something wrong with this?

there was a guy sitting in line ahead of me a week ago and his air dryer was spitting every 10-12 sec. It was annoying to say the least. I saw him a few days later and it was still doing the same thing. I felt like saying something to him but since he was a company driver I figured he didn't care about getting it fixed, especially since he gets back to the home terminal everyday and had plenty of chances to get it worked on.
The first thing I would check is to see if there is a leak in the signal line that goes from the govenor to the airdryer. -
It could also get bad enough to where it will stay releasing air. buddy of mine's truck did this for a week and the whole system was full of fluid and almost got him stranded with no air.

How does a mechanic mess up your fender doing that? Must have got him POd

it was in the way when he was working on the air compressor the other week to get it fixed. Sputter valve had bad seals.
2009 cascadia. The part he was working on was right behind the quarter fender for the front axle.Last edited: Jul 5, 2012

I heard a similar thing on a truck near me at a dock. Turns out, the driver's air governor had taken a dump and it was that emergency valve going off over and over. About once every 5-6 seconds. His air pressure was at almost 150psi in his tanks.

I rebuilt my AD-9 this spring, and bolted it back on only to discover that once air pressure built up the moisture spitter valve in the base would cook off every ten or so seconds. My fault; somehow i kinked/nicked the upper O-ring when installing the replacement spittervalve/heater assembly. Next time i'll take a bit more care.

I just sneak over and undo the small 3/8" OD line and that stops the 20 second spit cycle. If you can't keep your air system maintained you shouldn't be out here.
I knocked on some fat dude's door and told him him about his dryer popping off and he says "what do you want me to do about it?" I said "well, it bothers me so I thought I'd come over and bother you!"
