The first truck I bought, back in '93, was an '86 Frieghtliner with a Big Cam III and a single straight pipe. It was freaking LOUD. Being a punk 26 year old kid, I thought it was supercool... for about a month. Then I bought a muffler.
Is this true?

It would be almost impossible for the D batteries to work their way back into the exhaust manifold and engine. The exhaust airflow is pushing any object away from engine, not to mention the batteries would also have to go around curves, bends, and defy gravity going uphill to get to the manifold.
I think his D battery story is pretty much hogwash. -
I have a W. Star with a full grown Cat. It's an old Wives tale. Restrict exhaust, I don't think so.

I must say, your millage may vary. We don't recommend NO2. It might be useful in Heavy Haul. Just saying.

Believe it or not this does work. Way back when my dad was hauling logs, all of the guys did that at the company. The battery explodes and the acid eats everything in the muffler. It won't tear up the engine or make your exhaust explode or any of that nonsense. It does make it ridiculously loud when you have the jakes on.

I used to think the loud trucks were cool, I prefer a quiet ride now, I would prefer it to be even more quiet then its easier to listen to music, talk to someone on the phone, someone next to you etc.

I think we all thought the loud pipes were cool at some point. You want loud? Spent some time as an equipment operator. You'll appreciate the quiet that much more.
