So here i am at an afb in New Mexico. I could pick up a load in el paso paying 2500 to go to Ohio. Or i could dh to Memphis and get that same 2500 to go to Ohio. And yet the el Paso loads are flying of the board. I just don't understand how people can not see how stupid that is.
The same thing happens in all bad markets. Load in Denver to Ohio for 2k. Or bounce to kc and load for Ohio for 2k.
It is better to Deadhead than take cheap freight

I like this method. I try to adapt it myself. An open deck?

Pay per mile game may lead someone astray, Daily minimum of 1000 while on the road does the magic. Number of miles are as important as the fuel they use, but it seems better to run on average 600 miles a day for 1000 from running 200 miles for 650 at current fuel prices still.

Thank You.
4 months into O/O for me and I figured this out right away. Simple math. Thing that gets me is when I get called on one of them ridiculous low rate loads by a agent and I tell them "why would I take that when I can DH from X to X and still make the same OR better" they are in disbelief... Or at least they act like it... They can't believe I would DH 600 or 1000 miles... smh...spyder7723 Thanks this. -
You can make all kinds of numbers work if you want to use imaginary numbers doesn’t really prove anything other then the ones who want to believe you can get 4.50 a mile out of Memphis to say Columbus Oh.everyday all day.

I didn’t ask you personally a question in the beginning.Your decision to define cheap freight was voluntary on your part.So nothing under $2 so if you loaded a Miami from say Dallas for $4 a mile bet most would love to get a load out of Miami for say $1.90 back.like I said there are to many variables to define a certain dollar amountladr, trucking.shine and TallJoe Thank this.

Of course, I'd take 1 dol a mile from Miami to Chicago. Although, the last couple of times I went there, I ended up deadheading to Atlanta. Yes, the return pays for the fuel end this is how it it is designed. I don't feel like going anywhere else but home for the weekend so either I return empty and proud or for 1.2k - 1.4k (which does not even cover fuel both ways) and what... shamed?
I can't seem to get 5k for a dry van load down to Miami, FL, so I will take 1.4 k back haul always. I would not go down to Miami, FL for less than 4k today. There should be some minimum dignity level beyond which you'd never take a load but that's a very individual matter.JimmyWells Thanks this. -
Please tell me you just pulled easy round numbers of the top of your head and you aren't actually running a 600 mile loads for 1k dollars under your own authority.
