It just wouldnt start SMH!!!!

    I have A 2000 international 4700 the truck runs solid however i went to start the truck this morning and nothing! i turned the key to the start position all the gauges went right to left i waited for the ready to start light to go off and i turned the key and nothing i mean nothing no turn over no noise at all i ran a battery test and the batteries are fine full power i bought a new starter and the mechanic said its still doing the same thing does anyone have any ideas

    Perhaps the starter switch itself isn't sending power out when you're turning the key...

    So you have power from your switch that is interracting with the dash. But did the mechanic test for power at the solenoid when the switch was enabled? If you have no power at that point you have a bad wire. I am surprised the mechanic didnt do a bench test on the old starter and save you the cost of a new one.

    Is the truck with auto? May be neutral pos. switch?

    check fuse f17, should be neutral switch/ivs, see if that good. there is a crank relay under the dash pannel on the pass. side

    he tested the solenoid switch when the key was on and off and he said there was power there then he traced another line to the starter and said the starter has power to it however there was no crank that's how we came to the conclusion that it was the starter so he changed the starter and exactly the same thing happend

    Something very wrong here and it smells of the mechanic. The new starter should work fine. If you have power from both the key and cables, yet the starter doesnt work after a new install? Either you have power or the mechanic isnt telling you all the truth.

    Just a dumb thought here..... The place where the starter bolts up? Is it painted? If it is? Clean the paint off, the paint can act as a insulator and keep the starter from getting ground.

    Yep, he is checking the wrong part of solenoid and wiring. Is he checking for cranking power? You need two people for that! Just turning the key to "ON" and checking for power will get you no where!

    Ok thanks guys Saturday i'm having a different mechanic take a look because i feel like this guy doesn't know more than me
