After nearly 3 years of using a WiFi hotspot on my phone with total wireless, I made the mistake of switching to the new $50 mega plan w/ 25GB. And now? Well, the hotspot still activates like normal, and I can connect to it just fine, as normal, but it's no longer passing data through the hotspot. Yep, you heard it right, they seem to have found a way to block it without blocking it, so to speak. So - if you're on TW, you hotspot a lot, and you're thinking of switching to that new plan - DON'T. I might try going back to the old plan tomorrow to see if this is just the new one, or a change they've rolled out across the board.
Okay. Went back on the $35 plan today. Mobile hotspot working as normal again. Verizon now offers a prepaid unlimited mobile hotspot. $70/month, $65 on autopay. Think I'll go that route instead if I find that I'm spending at least that much on the TW $35 plan plus the $10 data refills in a month long span.
For that you can have a phone on unlimited and get hotspot with it. Get an unlocked phone like the Moto that Costco sells which comes witb no junk on it like Facebook.
I have the beyond unlimited from verizon,75 gigs of regular, than 20 for hotspot. Keep a jetpak at home that has 15 for 20.00 a month you can't beat that.
