and it sure isn't even VOX either. But I wonder if it is Hands Free enough to make the Canadians happy?

It will actually work for the time being but they will also be outlawed eventually. Especially since there are so many drivers that can't walk and chew gum at the same time muchless drive and talk on a headset at the same time.
The thing is that there have been studies abotu actual multi tasking. There are very few people that can actually multitask ie talk on a radio or a phone even with a handsfree headset and actually put the concentration needed ont he truck they are driving. I see this everyday. Will come up on a truck that doesn't seem to beable to stay in its own lane and come up to pass them only to see their lips moving as they are talking into a headset.
I have a Blue Parrot headset. I used to use it alot until I realized that I was forgetting if I had checked my mirrors etc when passing people. My full concentration was not on the task at hand, which was operating a 100,000 lb truck. Now my Blue Parrot goes mostly unused. It only comes into play as an absolute must and on a completely desserted highway.
So yes, I admitting that I can't fully multitask so I try not to do it unless it is absolutely needed.
Besides, I don't care for wearing something such as a headset on my head all the time. I would rather just use my Mic that is hanging from my ceiling up and out of the way. I hate crap dangling next too my head or infront of my face.
Also I don't care for the Corded headsets such as these. Just another thing to get in the way or operating the truck.
I had a corded headset for my phone for a few years and I was always getting tangled up in it when shifting gears etc. The phone was always getting pulled off the dash etc or getting wound up in the steering wheel.
So I actually see this as being an issue and getting in the way of operating the truck. -

WTF you talkin about Willis? You don't have a clue.
As for having your Amature liscence and being able to use a radio even if there are laws in some areas saying that others can't use their radios etc. That little peice of paper does not make you super human by any means. It does not give you a super brain that can multitask better then anyone else on the planet. So in all actuality, if you get into an accident while using your little ham radio in your car then it is your fault since you were not paying attention to the task at hand.
As far as your rant against 11 meters etc. Heard it all before on this board. Never going to change a thing. You will never convince others to get a special liscense so that they can use other types of radios on other bands. Why is this? Because the majority of the drivers run 11 meter and it seems to be a very small amount that want to go farther then 11 meter.
It has been pointed out on another thread, what your true intentions are here. In the internet world it is called Trolling boardering on SPAM which is a good enough reason for you to be banned for life from here also.
This post of yours just proves that point, because you took a thread about headsets and turned it into a ham discussion.
Not to mention that alot of the info you have posted on other threads is way off base to the point of being wrong and this has been pointed out by other Hams on this board. Meaning you probly got your ticket out of a box of cracker jacks or out of the bottom of a box of fruit loops or something. Or is it possible they started selling ham tickets in them quarter candy machines at the grocery stores???? Lets just say that you are not doing the Ham community any justice with the drival you post on this TRUCKING board.
Sorry but you have worn out your welcome in this sand box. I know that I am going to use a nice little function that is available on this particular board. It is called the ignore function. It is kind of neat because it basically removes all your posts from being seen on my end. All I will get is a window saying that you are being ignored. So that means I don't have to weed through your drival to see other posts. Well unless someone goes and quotes you. I then can see your post in their quote.
So now you can join others in my special box. Have a good life.Attached Files:

Morning Rat ........
I think Mr jumper is missing the point he needs to be a MENTOR a ELMER and not show everything not HAM as something from the dark side ..........
It's nice to show others something you are proud of and feel they could enjoy to but He is getting in there faces and you don't make friends or converts that way.
Leon .....
I posted my station from 1966 on QRZ.com Yep AM built from WW2 surplus the good old days when it took a KW from the wall to get 5 watts to the antenna ...
Rat Thanks this. -
Ok I took the bait. Had to remove you briefly from my list.
As far as my CDL, Well how much actual training is there involved with getting your little ticket over my getting my comercial drivers liscense? Sorry but my test was not open book, tough to buy answers for a test that is constantly changing. Tough to cheat on doing the skills test which involves you showing a tester that you know every working part ont he truck and how to check it for proper operation, not to mention having to test the tester on a ride to show that you can properly operate a 80,000 lb truck. Hell some states even require you to actually take some schooling before you can even test with the DMV. Lets not forget that you have to get a Doctors permission ie DOT physical, before you can get your CDL. Lets not forget that a DOT physical only lasts 1 to 2 years depending on your health. Sometimes it can be as little as 3 months.
I am not even talking about special endorsments such as hazmat etc. You know, them endorsments that let people haul the gas to the gas stations etc. Or the doubles and tripples endorsment, something that I just got added to my CDL just recently.
Also have to add that there is the possibility of my knowledge being tested multiple times EVERYDAY. They are called DOT inspections. Not that I have had any violations. Never going to say I am perfect because I got tagged because I had a tail light go out once, Also got tagged because I was 2500 over on my back tridems. But then I haul bulk products and we don't load on a set of scales so it is just a best guess as too how your trailer is loaded when you are hauling bulk farm products such as potatoes. I had one other violation that was kinda my fault. The hop had just done a 6 axle brake job on my trailer and I did not bother to check out their work. They forgot to adjust the brakes on two wheels so my slack adjusters were out of adjustment. It was a lesson learned and I always double check their work now.
Lets compare apples to apples please.
You are here for one thing and one thing only. To rant about the FCC and try to make all 11 meter users look like pinheads.
You post alot of miss information which has been pointed out by some actual knowledgeable Hams on this board. My favorite is the 102 mounted on the front bumper of a truck. LOL. I will not argue that a 102 is not better then a shorter loaded antenna. It is but it is not practical by any means and especially not off the front bumper of a truck. It would be slapping the front and side of the truck all day long at 65 mph in a wind.Sure you could use a gutter rail clip or something to keep it from whipping around but then it would end up tangled in the mirrors etc and would make the antenna useless. The best possible place for it would be behind the cab or sleeper but then it would be surrounded by alot of metal with only a few inches of it above the roof of the cab or sleeper. I am just curious how much reflect you would get off such a setup?
Another was your post about the ball ont he end of an antenna keeping your transmission from shooting straight up. LMFAO!!!!!
How abotu your post saying that you can talk farther on a 4 or 5 watt CB and your 102 then some guy or myself with a radio and amp running through a single or pair of antennas mounted off the mirror brackets of a truck. It would be so much fun to park you next to me so we can test your theory out. Kind of a little key down competition. Your 4 or 5 watt cb radio and 102 off your front bumper against my single or cophased mirror mounted wilson 5000s behind my cobra 29 and Palomar 450. I would be willing to bet money that you would be the one walking away kicking the dirt like a spoiled little looser. But next would would be contacting your FCC guys to report someone running more then 4 or 5 watts on 11 meter.
Are you one of those guys that runs around in your ford tempo with antennas all over on it looking for 11 meter users using more then 3 or 5 watts???? I bet you are! Are you one of them self proclaimed radio police???? I bet you roll into truck stops and confront truck drivers all the time. You probly have a toy badge that you pull out and try to enforce FCC laws with it.
You have been made, you got banned on another forum for your ranting. You proclaim yourself as the hardest working ham. All you are is one of them loosers that run all over the net going into fits with people that don't follow the Ham or FCC rules to a T.
You are one of the Hams that makes me think about switching my 10 meter radio over to 10 meters in hopes of finding you on their so that I can screw with you for hours. I would drive around your area for hours not saying much. Just say something real quick to piss you off then keep moving then say something again and keep moving. I could have you and your buddies on a wild goose chase for hours and hours until you finally give up. I would then head out of the area laughing my ### off.
Maybe I will pick up one of them handhelds and use the repeater or what ever and come play on one of your favorite bands. Now that we have your call sign. All I would have to do is listen for it then start screwing with you.
So how about you just go away and leave the radio talk on this forum to the actual Hams here that know a thing or two. -
I know that. he is just another Gadfly that found this place through QRZ probly. He is a troll and nothing more. His rants will get him no were other then on more ignore lists with hopes that he will get bored and go away. He will get sick of posting hour long responses only to not get any response back too him. Then he will do like someone else posted, he will make threats about reporting this board to the FCC or something like that. LOL that will get him no were.
Simple fact is that the FCC will most likely do nothing and his reports will get filed in the circular file. Because they have enough on their plate already without trying to enforce the 1000s of users on 11 meter that might be running more then 4 or 5 watts. I would venture that your chances are better at winning the lottery then getting tagged for a violation on 11 meter. Would this be correct? I know that I hear about alot more big lottery winners then I hear about FCC handing out violations to 11 meter users. Not to mention that cuts in Gov spending might be putting a hamper on the FCC and what and how they will enforce 11 meter muchless any amature radio.
One thing that Channel Jumper and other hams don't realize is that no matter how much then can hope and dream, 11 meter use will never go away. There are how many trucks on the road with CB radios in them??? I have not counted but I am willing to guess it would be in the tens of thousands or even more. Then add all the non truckers that have CBs in their houses and cars. I would venture that CB users number in the 100s of thousands area just in the US alone.
As far as enforcment of radio use in the truck. Good luck with that, they can't even enforce cell phone use in cars or texting laws of people driving down the road. First off they have to see them doing it. LOL a police cruiser sitting about a foot off the ground with the officers head no more then 4 feet off the ground and a truck were the windows of the cab are more then 2 feet above the officers line of sight. That and they can't pull you over just because you have a CB in your truck. They can't prove that you have it in there for more then stationary comunications.
As far as his claim that headsets are illegal for use in a truck by a comercial driver. Again this would be false. His claim that they make it hard for you too hear is also false, The freaking AM/FM/ CD radio could make it even harder for a driver to hear things out on the road. Yet another bogus claim.
There are so many holes in his posts and replys that freaking jello would run right through them. -
LMAO!!!!
Just sent my last payment in on the scooter. Yeap paid in full!!!!!
As far as my truck and trailer. LOL Running a 379 long hood with an extra pusher axle pulling a 50 ft Trinity eagle bridge tri axle with a 11 ft canadian spread. I am legal for 105,500 on our state roads and 96,000 on the interstate highway when I have my 10% harvest permit. LOL I can and have been more then 105,500. But then we have a big dome on top of the trailer since they are heated for running bulk potatoes all winter long from growers storage to processing into, nope, not chips, but french fries, tater tots, hash browns etc. Umatillas, Rangers, Russets, Shepodies etc. Not your average potato. Currently doing dump work pulling a belly dump hauling hot mix, gravel etc. Again a triaxle trailer just doesn't have the spread to carry the big loads.
Also never did I ever say I was running a legal radio setup. Please point to 1 just 1 thread were I ever said I was running a legal radio setup.
Oh yes I have a connex 4600 turbo sitting in the bunk of the truck. Works great but not as well as my cobra with the palomar behind it.
As far as being 9S across the country. LOL not hard to do when the conditions are correct. I have run 9s down to tampa bay area from way up here in the center of the US along the canadian border. That was with my amp set on the low power setting. LOL.
It is mother nature, not radio power that lets you talk across the country. If conditions are strong then you can easily do it with a box stock 3 1/2 watt cobra 29. Yeap that is about what they put out right out of the box. Sometimes and I mean sometimes you can get a good one that is doing more then 4 watts on key up but then when you have mass production then you have variances in radio performance. Meaning no two radios are indentical coming out of a mass production facility. This is why some radio shops run their radios across a bench to make sure each and every radio going out their door does exactally the same.
As far as my schooling, saddly I can't say that I have some type of college degree. I am fully certifed as an automotive tech along with having been a fully Star certified Polaris tech. Not to beat my own drum but I also have a thing that makes me excel at engineering problems. It is called a working thought process. See I can figure out things in my head in which others need computers to figure out. I can design and build most any thing mechanical and actually have it work. Something I kind of inherited from my grandfather I guess.
I drive a truck by choice. What other job out there lets me drive around the country seeing the sights while making money doing it? Hell I don't even have to pay for fuel. I just sign the slip and let the boss write the check. LOL life is great.
I love Forest Gump coments, they guy might have been slow etc but you know he was probly the smartest man on earth not to mention RICH.
I actually took you off my list because this is getting to be fun. Call it trolling if you like but it just causes you to post more drivel that prooves just how dumb you actually are.
I bet you are also running over to QRZ posting up about your convos here on a trucking board. I would be highly suprised if you aren't because most of the hams ,with the same mentality as yours, do these types of things. I have seen them before over there. I just don't venture over there because that place seems to be full of these types of attitudes especially toward possible new members that might be looking at a ham ticket. It was also funny to read the whining and crying when code was dropped from the testing.
So keep up the work there buckwheat. You are doing just fine for yourself here. LOL
