I was terminated from JB Hunt for the 3 call ins. 1 was for going to slow in the slow lane on I-81 in West Virginia. The truck they gave me topped out at 58 mph. The speed limit there is 70 mph. The other 2 were on I-78 in Pa. Was told I was speeding and passing people and cutting them off. The 2nd truck I had topped out at 62 mph. I had a full load and was in the hilly area of I-78 I spent most of that area in 9th gear and doing about 55 in the slow lane. Now I too can't find a job because they put terminated on my DAC report. Does anyone have real advice on how to get a job driving a truck????

Unemployment will side with you unless its criminal. Simply tell your story at the hearing that everyone gets a few weeks after you file.

As for the DAC/Hire Right, you need to learn about the credit reporting agency rules and counter file. You also can put a statement about what happened on the report for a small fee. An attorney really cant do anything for you.

And if you really want to act on principle about this, join OOIDA because they are fighting this issue of the DAC/Hire Right. Its only $45 to join.

Try Schneider and or Hogan Transport. I was terminated from Roehl for BS and many companies won't hire until time passes but these two heard the circumstance of the termination and pre hired me. Good luck. For the record Roehl believes the public over the driver as well.

Sometimes you just have to start wondering if you reallly want to keep working in an industry that's this screwed up. I always feel like getting fired is just around every corner. I was in NYC this morning, and felt like it was at every stop light (and theres a lot of em on Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn!)...in RUSH HOUR. The 4 wheelers over there dont let you over until you let them know that you dont give a crap if you have to run them over to get over, youre getting over....

You could always learn a new trade. Can't do that if you're OTR.

I've *watched* people call in on me and never gotten contacted by safety about it. Funny. Maybe you should work here, even if it sucks. I work for werner.

I hear that! It's bad enough that you have to have eyes all over because 4 wheelers think that they own the road. You got lawyers that are like vulchers waiting to pounce. And you have worry about not making any errors because your company will terminate you for silly crap.

Stratmaster...If you have 2 years in, you should be able to find a local job in your area or look for a smaller OTR company.

i hope you make out. that violation of company policy stuff is just their broad umbrella to put things in so they dont really have to explain why they terminated you. but they do need a formal complaint with the name and adress and phone number of the caller if they want to try and make it stick as a legitimate complaint that filed without that is your word against their word and the labor board will see it usually on your side without the proof. as for dac they will have to have proof if you file the dispute. good luck

Howdy from a driver in the past 1981 to 94. A lot has changed since then but you are right about folks calling in and there is no verification of citations. One must consider innocent before proven guilty. Anyone can call in on a truck driver, that doesn`t mean they did something, it means there are folks out there that try to cause trouble for J B Hunt drivers. The Office should consider that. I had one time that happen. Lady called in and reported that I ran her off the road so I asked the safety person which way the the lady was driving. East of course, well honey if she was going east and I loaded in Jersey going to Minneapolis then why would I be on the east side of the Interstate. That was the end of it but a driver has to have a way to defend themselves and honestly unless there is no verification of citations, other witnesses then being charged by safety should be considered fraudulant. Safety should remember this and it could end up being a costly lawsuit by some driver. We are not perfect but we come close to it.
