HI, im a 52 years old dutch driver, and my adventure-look-beyond-the-horizon- cells are vibrating yet again. Sick of Europe, too.
So: does anyone have advice on which are good companies to work for?
I havent started the process yet, and will try to avoid immigration agencies, since i dont see their advantages and they cost money :biggrin_255:
Lots of vacancies, lots of company sites with driver demands, lots of names on forums where one shouldnt work...
Ive got 25 years- plus experience in europe, in different fields, and would prefer the real long haul. Out several weeks no problem. Flexible. Hard worker. Fluent in English, French and Spanish.
    (thats enough self-publicity i think.)
    Anyone an idea?
    Thanks in advance, Jadran

Welcome to the Canadian forum bildstar. Good luck in your quest. I'd offer something more normally but I just got in and I'm pretty tired. just wanted to say Hi. I'll try to post something constructive later.

Thanks for helping. Have seen their ad just about everywhere, seem to be hiring from every depot they have. But...what about their reputation? Lotsa comments on them here...i know youre not gonna be happy with your last employer making you quit, but sure there will be guys that are fine there? Or is that too rosy?
Sent my cv to SGT, theyre hiring as well, and suppose theyre a decent outfit...anybody know them? Gotta pay a lot myself, so wanna be relatively sure im picking the right one.

Sorry for all these questions, in Europe i know my way around, but youre a bit further ...

Reply is a bit late (...), sorry for that, first thanks for writing back. Things went strange here, but ive gotten something going i think. From now on, its the paperwork- battle to fight.
Since employer-to-be cooperates, i hope to be able to greet you all on the road soon.

Sorry for not getting back to you on this topic, but I saw names like H&R posted, and that was about all I could help with. If you're keen on learning Spanish (Mexican), I believe SGT based out of Quebec has recently hired a bunch of European drivers. SGT runs Canada, the USA, and Mexico. Something to think about. A nice load of furniture from Quebec City to Cancun, MX, with a back haul of baking goods rounds out at 7,700 loaded miles ...... just an example ..... I had a friend did that run 15 years ago and loved it.

By the way, you don't have to speak Spanish to run for SGT - French and English are a help thoo. English speaking drivers usually don't have any communication problems in Mexico. Mexicans speak more English then French.

Thanks for the advice SL, ill keep that one in mind...just in case. For the moment, ive got a job offer from Agri-tel, out of Beausejour, Manitoba. They few remarks i have seen so far were positive, and the contact so far has been pretty promising.
Btw, i do speak almost fluent Spanish...been running Spain for a lot of years...when things were still ok in Europe. Been laid off twice in 2 months now cause of companies either reducing trucks or going bankrupt, due to crisis and cheap concurrence from The East. Wanted to go try my luck in your country anyway, clearly now the time has come.
    Any opinions on Agri-tel, anyone?

Agritel is a very good company. Good equipment, staff and drivers. You will be much happier at Agritel than any other company. I work for them , truck #139, keep in touch. I'd be happy to help answer any questions that you have.
