Has anyone been able to get out of jury duty using your job as an OTR driver as an excuse? Or do the courts not GAF?

    Yep
I told them I was OTR, and they said no problem.
Actually, I wrote it on the notice.

I have done jury duty twice, rather enjoyed it.
That said I was considering becoming a lawyer when younger, and studied the legal system, and still do follow a lot of things about the law, golf with some lawyers regularly, have a BIL who is a lawyer, and a couple of cousins who are to, and an uncle that is a judge. I almost went to law school instead of becoming a truck driver.

Right! I’d vote opposite of everyone just to prolong the case. If you can’t make 2 days off out of it, you’re doing it wrong!

The first time I was called for jury duty, I closed my shop, drove 25 miles, just to be told that court had been postponed.
I ask why they couldn't have called me, and was told I should call them instead, by the time I left they were more than happy to let me off of it, and have never had any trouble getting off ever since.

I have no interest in serving on a jury. One, in L.A. County, California, it's a revolving door of non-punishments and slaps-on-the-wrists--it's pointless. Two, it would be difficult to coordinate because I would have to set my hometime three or four days before jury duty to make sure I made it in time, then if I get picked for a jury, maybe have to turn the truck in.

They ask if it's a financial burden. Say yes.

It does call into question of who sits on these juries of long trials though. No common working man, that's for sure.
