any time a driver starts with a new company, that company has to give the driver a road test. Is there any rule that states who in the company must administer the test? Does the person have to be a cdl holder? I am sure I have done at least one road test with a company that was administered by the head of the safety dept., who did not hold a cdl.
Reason I am asking this is, any time my company hires a new flatbed driver, they stick him with me and expect me to do the road test, train him, etc. this is getting a little frustrating for me. Can the manager do the road test himself? Note: I don’t work for a trucking company per se, I work for a distribution center with our own fleet.
Just a quick question about road tests

Most companies rules are don't hit anything and bump the dock within a half hour and your hired.
If you want to keep your job do what your boss wants.Rideandrepair, nredfor88, Kyle G. and 2 others Thank this. -
I don't know the answer but... there would be some liability for you if the guy that's doing the road test were to have an accident, even if its not his fault. The accident attorney would definitely come after you and the company. Could cost you thousands in attorney fees and much more. I would stop giving road tests now.Rideandrepair and Kyle G. You should take it as a compliment. Your company has enough confidence in you to entrust a new hire with you, to train and integrate him/her into the company culture. That is is sign of leadership and responsibility, and you should not shirk from it.

At the very least he should be getting extra pay for doing road tests in my humble opinion.
