    Hey yall!
I am thinking about starting a "business" on the side of being in the military. I would like to start polishing wheels, tanks, bumpers etc, on the weekend to make a few extra bucks for my pocket. Anyway, I'm on here just to find out the going rates, whats reasonable, whats not....and what other things all of you might like to see someone offer (run errands in town, ie: get a hard to find item thats not from the truckstop!) Stuff like that. I encourage all and any ideas or help that you can offer!! My father is a truck driver and I have grown up around the industry all my life, anyway, thanks alot, you drivers keep the world turning!!

I think it's a union rule. If you have more than 50% of your teeth you can't polish aluminum.

seriously though why would you want to? talk about a nasty job. ALot of the guy just get like $10 or $12 bucks a wheel but these are not the premier places like you get in wildwood fl or out in CA. And I have heard these people suck.
I'l tell you this much. If you say you guarantee my happyness you better be repared to shine them puppies. I don't pay for a half a job and I am one picky s.o.b. I polished from the time I was 13 till I was out of tech school and my old man didn't pay me if it wasn't perfect and that is the standard I go on. More than once I have been worried about being attacked for refusing to pay a guy.
Oh and if you don't have a buffer you aint polishing my truck. I don't care what they say, you cant get a good shine without one. Not unless the truck is already polished for the most part. In which case I'd do it myself rather than paying for it.
I used to pay soemthing like $400 for an entire truck out in CA but that was a long time ago and I'm taking about a pete and trailer. I would have the tanks, wheels, rad cowl, headlights, battery boxes, air tanks, deck plate, door jams, trl whels and fuel tank for the reefer. And usually I'd get them to do the stainless visor.
That would take a full day almost.
