Keep On Trucking Data Usage ?

Company is dumping the Qual-Comm after the first of the year and going to Keep On Trucking App.
How much data does this app use on your phone ?
Did your bill go up ?

 

I know it doesn't answer your question, but my response would be "Great, but you are not using my phone for your business expenses.”

I will flat refuse to allow their business related apps on my phone. Too many good companies out there not pushing their business expenses in the driver.

Tell the carrier to provide a cell phone. On their dime.

 

I've got unlimited data so it isn't an issue.

 

The issue isn't data usage. The issue is the company expects me to pay their business expense.
What happens when the screen breaks because you dropped it doing your logs?
What happens when the phone needs to be reformatted because the eld apps is broken?
What happens when the officer starts looking through the phone while checking logs?

No, it's not my job to provide the company with their operational expenses.

 

Data usage is pretty minimal. Our company runs three phones, two farm i-pads and a truck I-pad with Keep Trucking, and we use about 2 gigs a month total.

That said, I wouldn't run Keep Trucking on a phone. I've done it, but have them buy you a tablet to run it on. The larger screen makes things way more ergonomically, and safe. You can just hand the tablet over during inspection as well.
