    How can I maintain the active status of my motor carrier authority while minimizing expenses for insurance and IRP? I plan to temporarily cease operations in the upcoming year but want to explore options like switching from interstate to intrastate, changing commodities, or any other strategies to reduce costs and keep the MC authority active.

    Reduce your coverages and limits to the minimum. Cancel cargo insurance. Turn in your plates. Your MC/DOT is interstate so you have to keep enough coverage to keep it active. It's 750k with no need for cargo.
