I’m company driving flatbed currently but want to sign on with Landstar in the future. Will they make me stick with flatbed because that’s where all my experience is or will they let me go dry van.

If you want dry van I would tell them that. Like the guy said your truck your choice.

Going from flatbed to van should be no issue since you’re pretty much just bumping docks

Going from van to flatbed and a company might want you to have more experience since there’s the securement element part of the equation that van guys wouldn’t know

You can find o/0 that are leased to L,S after you are done with the paper work and drive for one of those and get the way they do things till you can find a good truck to buy later?

You don't need to go through all that. All you need to know is how to navigate their load board and which ELD's they allow you to use. You will hardly ever talk to anyone at Landstar after orientation. They let their broker/agents handle almost everything.

Even if you plan on doing van, go ahead and do the securement class and get your flatbed rating from the start. Once you see the flat/step rates compared to the vans and play the drop your loaded with no empties game a couple times, you’ll be buying your securement gear.
