Late fees

Why was it late?
Did you call broker, receiver or shipper as soon as it was determined it would be late?

What does the rate con say about that?
You will need to review your contract to determine if they can charge anything and what the maximum could be. Then you need to try and negotiate the charges.

The amount they want has nothing to do with it.

 

Four days is hella late. Why so late?

 

Late fees suck. They charge for 30 minutes late sometimes. Also they charge you for being early even whether you are loading or delivering. They will even charge for pallets. I think charging fees for arrival should be outlawed, yet government does not care. Just my 2 pence.

 

You made an agreement. Do what you said you would do.

“But Six, the truck broke down, there was a family emergency, driver got sick...etc”

Irrelevant. Live up to your end of the agreement. Make them live up to theirs.

 

You forgot driver was drunk.

 

That’s covered under “sick.”

I agree with you. I guess truckers are the only problem our government wants to fix. That what I was meaning.
