Goodday all I'v been a company driver for the same company in Manitoba for 26 years doing 1000km a day 4 days a week pulling single vans, pups, rockys, and a few turnpikes
My pet peeve is drivers doing poor or no pre trips especially brakes on LCV's, I see drivers hooking LCVs get every thing hooked up, get in the cab pull ahead pull the spike and if the unit stops away they go. No checking for audible air leaks , no checking push rod stroke, no checking even if they have air at both the blue service and red emergency valves at the back of the back trailer
The last thing I do when hooking LCV's is put my lunch bag on the trailer spike and go back and open both the red and blue valves at he back of the back trailer, this does a few things: i can hear air leaks, checks the no slack on the pintle hitch, it also exercises the glad hand valves. It only takes a few seconds and i have to go back the to check my lights and put on a long load sign any ways

I’m in Manitoba as well…. Have you seen the quality of drivers lately???? Have you seen how many pikes are in the ditch on the trans Canada in the winter???

Indeed it is, everything he is saying, I witnessed with pikes at Bison. Heck, they had a ton of incidents, where the converters simply rolled away in the yard, because the brakes were that out of adjustment/no longer existed lol.

When I finally decided to do LCV full time, I didn't want it to be with the usual suspects (Bison, TransX, Arnold Bro's, Kindersley/Simmens etc etc). I was looking into Mainstream, Rosenau, Rosedale Group, and a couple others. Lots of the same, but better than the usual suspects.

Thankfully I got the job I'm at now, great outfit, worked for them before company a few years ago. I've seen a couple of the LCV guys doing the same old same old, but the rest seem pretty good. I have an assigned converter tho, so that eliminates 99% of my issues lol.
