At this point I think I would prefer to do that along with someone running under my authority.

Not that I anticipate problems, and I guess maybe that's part of the point of the thread is to try to pre-think things to avoid problems preemptively to the extent that's possible, but if I did have a problem I think if he works under my MC I have more leverage against him than someone that just takes the trailer, plus I also would make money on the percentage.

I would have to figure how often he has to swing by so the trailer can be inspected, now that you have me thinking of it.

I remember years ago there was somewhere I worked and we rented a trailer from I think it was extra lease. That guy checked every Nick and scrape and scratch everywhere on that trailer.

I suppose I could do something similar, albeit much less anal and more easy going.

It's good to have simple systems in place to keep everyone accountable and on the same page.

    That was pretty good!

I would be in the 10% to 15%. Let them self dispatch.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

    15% minimal.

He pays the insurance if he is under yours.

    He gets his own plates.

Be careful about self-dispatching thing, you can get burned if you don't setup the contract carefully.

Get a lawyer to set the contract.

Winner winner chicken dinner on having a attorney draw the contract up.

I charge 25 percent that includes everything.

How about anybody including the trailer?

    What percentage with the trailer?

Or is that a percentage with the authority and a monthly cost for the trailer?

    Siinman and Rideandrepair Thank this.

87% with their trailer. 77% my trailer. Cover the cargo & liability. ELD cost/month. Plate program. Fuel card. National accounts. File IFTA. Pay same day paperwork turned in.
