Thought I had a pretty decent tractor - 2017 Kenworth t-680 with ultra shift + 1,800 watt inverter. It jerks around when trying to back up the trailer and it won't shift into 10th gear which keeps the RPM at 1,450 instead of an efficient 1,140 at cruising speed. My boss (Driver Business Leader) yells at me twice a week about my low miles per gallon. Tell him about the tranny problem and he just ignores that and says it's my fault.
Figured out that after working 12-14 hours a day, 7 days a week I'm averaging between $7.15 to $8.50 for every hour I work. Think flipping burgers pays more. Gonna turn the tractor in within a week.

Before you do that have a talk with them , you have nothing to loose by being straight up honest with them .
AfterShock, rabbiporkchop, Steel Dragon and 3 others Thank this. -
Yell at me once and I'll be cleaning it out for good. I don't know why drivers like to put with such abuse. It's a driver's market, really. Hell, they're hiring drivers from Eastern Europe they're so hard up for help. Put them in their place next time they cop an attitude at SNI.
Surfer Joe, Concorde, rabbiporkchop and 8 others Thank this. -
Have you talked to anyone in service about it?

your thread title:
Leaving Schneider for the second time
whenever i leave a company..??
I STAY LEFT...!!!!!!!
i NEVER go back, i left for a reason, and it ain't gonna be better the second time around.
good luck where ever you go, this time.Steel Dragon, BigHossVolvo, Texas_hwy_287 and 7 others Thank this. -
This is the answer. My guess is no, he hasnt. Seriously, whats so hard about saying "fix this before I drive it again" and standing by it? Also 9th gear at 1500 rpms is max 52 mph. Why the heck are you driving at 52 mph?
I also guess that the "yelling" the dbl is doing I would consider a conversation and guidance. Or the dbl is responding to the drivers bad attitude.rabbiporkchop, Steel Dragon and CrappieJunkie Thank this. -
Hehe drivers from EE driving for SNI?! Yeah right buddy!Steel Dragon Thanks this.

Truck spent 5 days in the shop for "B" PM and a long list of things I turned in. Nobody really wanted to hear such a list, but most drivers will never turn anything in unless it affects them getting miles. I don't care about that. I just work and at the end of the week I get paid. They didn't fix everything like the gearing. Then a couple days later the tractor spent three hours in a shop to fix several codes. It still jerks when you back it up. This is bad when backing between two other tractors at a truck stop or to a loading dock. Really hate slamming into the dock and bouncing off. Takes a few slams to finally seat the dock.
52? You much have a different rear gear ratio. At 1,450 RPM I'm at 61 in 9th gear. I can manually shift to 10th and it will stay there if I'm empty or bobtailing. But put a load on it and it's a 9 speed tractor.
Have spoken with the Operations Manager and he stands by the Driver Business Leader (DBL). Tried speaking with another DBL, but she wouldn't interfere. Really don't want to leave. Once I had a decent tractor and driving 3200 to 3500 per week. My DBL told me a few days ago if I made bonus (safety, mpg, routing, etc a few times, he would see that I got a new tractor. Problem is, this tractor gets lousy mpg so I'll never get anything.
Just put in for a day off next week. Will call them from home one last time to try fixing this, or I'll empty the tractor and turn it in at the terminal.Steel Dragon and Lonesome Thank this.
