Why do so many old timers get bent out of shape at a driver doing the speed limit or a few over in the left lane through a city? It seems safer than fighting all that merging traffic and there are less ending lanes to deal with. I get it if someone is going slow in the only lane you can really pass in but it shouldn't really bother anyone who isn't trying to fly like a bat out of hell through traffic.

I don't care if you're going 15 over the limit. If you are in the left lane, no matter how many lanes there are to you're right, and people are having to slow down and work their way around you, you're in the wrong lane. I don't care though. I'm the guy in the right lane relaxing, watching the left lane hog, get tailgated and then brake checked when they finally get in front.

Probably because the far left lanes are restricted. You cause clusters by doing that. Four wheelers tend to hang around you and make it worse. They don't know any better but you do, or should. It's better to stay to the right out of faster traffics' way. There's always somebody needing to move along faster than you no matter what speed you're doing. It's just common courtesy to stay right. At the very least step it over to the right to allow the semi behind you to get around then back over to the left. And we will all sing kumbahyaa

Because it's rude and dangerous. Camping in the left lane prevents the left lane from being used what it was designed for: passing and emergency traffic. Also, when you're driving in the left lane all the traffic you're going to have to merge back into is on your blind side.

It's not your responsibility to fight merging traffic, it's their responsibility to merge onto the highway. Maintain your lane.

If you do not know how to deal with merging traffic . i would say you should stopcalling yourself a truck driver... Its like a doctor complaing about working with sick people... Its your entire job. Use the left lane to pass and get on with it... Passing somebody bevause ur going .03 mph faster then them is not going to get u to ur destination any quicker. And it creates a cluster #### behind you.

That's what I'm saying though, it's far less relaxing in the right lane because there are so many scared or confused four wheelers merging at every on ramp. Also your going to have to switch lanes everytime the right lane ends anyways.

"Keep right except to pass". It doesn't say keep right except to pass or if you are doing the speed limit or faster do whatever you want.

The right lane is the safest legal lane to run. You should practice it..i wrote a long winded post awhile back about how to deal with the right lane and merging traffic.. Has kept me out of alot of trouble... That shoulder is always an out when a wreck happens in front of you.. The wrecks usually always come from the left or middle lanes.

The only people that get a pass In my book from running the right lane is oversize.because its much harder to switch lanes and deal with traffic ...

Now in theory the far left lane is the safest lane to run.. But it is illegal in most places to do this and traffic is driving much faster over there.. But if all lanes are created equal in a theoretical world. then the left lane is always safest... Unfortunately we dont live in a theoretical world.

When did they write the driving regulations with your state of relaxation in mind?

So you not only block traffic you know you are blocking traffic and you're defend blocking traffic. If only there was a word for such a person. Keep right, except to pass.
