Been around, just been kick'n it over in the flatbed section..
Now that I'm just an average schmoe 5 axle I didn't want to step on y'alls toes.. lol
Feel like I was trying to steer guys away from small trucks, & that's not right. I started in the same setup as many others, a dodge dually & 40' deckover. There was nothing anyone could say to change my mind, so why try to dissuade someone.? Still a good way to get into the industry IMO..rccarlson22 Thanks this. -
Is that other shaker you posted your new ride? Looks sweet
I’m kicking around the idea of buying an extended sleeper and taking the family with me OTR. I’ve done it a few times with hotels but it was “tolerable” at best. Good memories and great experiences taking them around the country but I lean away from doing it againsinglescrewshaker Thanks this. -
Bare minimum it’s gotta have a toilet/shower. I can’t be stopping every 150 miles for restroom breaks for them

In my opinion a hotshot is a work style and mindset and has nothing to do with the size of your truck or trailer. Hotshot=Expedited.
I went with a ram when I started because truth be told I was afraid of the size of a semi truck. Little did I know that a ram and a 53 footer is the same length as a 5 axle rig until I was already working. Now with a couple of years experience and research I can clearly see that even a single axle semi is a better investment long term in this business. There is just so much a dually truck can do and being otr why not have a comfortable space to relax at the end of the day and a place to stretch out in the morning?
Want to talk true old school hotshot? Then anyone with anything bigger than a pickup truck or a small flatbed dually without a trailer running anything but oilfields is out of the "hotshot family".Lite bug and singlescrewshaker Thank this. -
Thank you sir.! After winter I will polish the wheels, tanks, bumper & I think she will look sharp for what it is.? 1st one I've even seen painted like this.. lol
Know the feeling well lol.
2013-18 my ol Lady, & 80lb American bulldog was in the truck. The dog could hold it well, Lady not so much. Finally got her to 3.5-4hrs, but even that was a stretch.! Lol
Couldn't even imagine having kiddos along for the ride all the time.! Once, twice a year sounds good, & the plan of having a bathroom on board even better!!
God prefers Diesels Thanks this. -
Hell yes it will.Lite bug and singlescrewshaker Thank this.

These did a good job on all my aluminum parts without scrubbing. Spray, wait a couple minutes and pressure wash Not polish quality but still nicer than they were before. Just wear some goggles if its windy.

Well said.!

It is a mindset. Still always looking for something time sensitive, the nice part now is weight is almost of no concern with 51.5k lbs net payload..
I felt the exact same way as I'd owned Cummins dodge pickups since '03. Pulling trees, moving small equipment, boats, jetski's, I'm extremely comfortable in my abilities of what I can do with dodge pickup..
I wanted no part of semi, & I mistakenly thought the rules would be way more relaxed driving a small truck. Well after about a yr, I moved my gross to 36k lb, & played by the same rules except no KYU #, or 2290 tax. Not much difference regulation wise.. lol
Oh, and being able to see over the roofs of all the 4 wheelers is very nice. You can see what crap is unfolding quite aways ahead & make evasive actions sooner..Lite bug and 24kHotshot Thank this. -
Hey, I appreciate that coming from you.!
By the way, don't think I commented on your side pipes thread, but you got some fine welding & fabrication skills brother!! Got your blue Binder looking slick.!
24kHotshot and God prefers Diesels Thank this.
