I'm with you, it is a simple concept...but many folks have willful ignorance and an unwillingness to adapt. That guy probably never paid attention to hours of service and just made his log book "look good." You're right about the tin details OP provided. For all we know, he may have never traveled far enough to actually know how to log properly. So much to speculate. You'd be surprised how many people get ran off of jobs because they can't get the hang of technology, in any industry.

Hogan has trucks on that account. They pay $385 a day flat rate. No roll carts like Dollar General instead the driver unloads onto a roller ramp to the store employees inside the store.Walk Among Us Thanks this.

My personal opinion, I would’ve done the dedicated route just to get stabilize with the company(foot in the door). Once that has started, give it a week or 2, talk to some drivers and I’m most certain one will have a direct contact to get you where you want to go. If you don’t have the smarts and patience, you will not last in this industry. Words of advice from someone who has been in this industry since late 1979.

If it were any other account, I might agree. But it's a Dollar account. The risk is never worth the reward on those accounts. Beyond the low pay for the work, the chances of having an accident or being injured are absurdly high. I pulled one Dollar General load. After the first stop I messaged in "I will complete this load, but if assigned another I will put in my 2 weeks notice".
In this case, the smart play is to leave before risking your license. The patient play is to wait for a better opportunity.Lonesome, mjd4277, Savor the Flavor and 7 others Thank this. -
Meanwhile the topic algorithm has made a CRST pop-up recruiting advertisement appear on this page. Lol

Why is he not retired? Also, with 50 years in he chooses a bottom feeder company. Yikes.
But yes, CRST is an awful mega with a rightful negative rep.

OP’s complaint is legit. CRST basically pulled a “bait and switch” on him. He specifically requested OTR before he was hired and they told him that there were no positions available after he was hired on.
JB Hunt has been notorious for pulling that stunt for well over a decade too-there are MORE THAN ENOUGH complaints and reviews here and elsewhere on that matter.Gearjammin' Penguin, omaharj, bryan21384 and 3 others Thank this. -
I can personally speak to them going back at least 25 years with that crap.Gearjammin' Penguin, mjd4277, kemosabi49 and 1 other person Thank this.
