Thought I'd give everyone an update when I deliver this load today well the load ended up getting rejected however the receiving manager and another receiving manager all came out of the office and brought me back to the trailer to show me the situation and explain that it clearly was not my responsibility to put load bars up there because they loaded it it was not the Driver's Responsibility they said and they made a note of improper loading procedure on the bill of lading I reported it back to my dispatch and my boss he got ahold of the broker all came to an agreement that it was the shippers fault and their responsibilities so now they are contacting back the shipper and I don't know what the outcome of that will be luckily I'm near the yard for my company so I just dropped it there and got a new load today but bottom line they all agreed that it wasn't my fault and they should never have loaded it that way or should have notified me of it because unlike what some other posters have said not all companies will let you stand back there while they load a trailer because it is bottom line their product they know how to load it this is their job everyday and yes the driver is responsible for the load but at the same time there is only so much I could do a lot of the bins of these watermelons collapsed on the bottom under the weight of the two top pallets it was loaded it completely wrong even the receiver said they've never seen a watermelon load quite like this one. You name me one trucker who stands on the dock everytime they get loaded, their aren't many. Besides that, this was my first produce load in my entire career. No one's perfect but also on a side note. The load was piled so high there was no way I could have even gotten up front to secure it or know that they left such a large gap on the upper row. Anyways, worked out well for me, everyone on my end sided with me and I didn't lose any money and know for next time. Thanks to the posters who kept to the subject and was cordial and rational in their posts. Also, I lost mo income today, already has a load waiting and I always do, I average 3,000-3,500 miles a week safely and the boss knows that. Not one negative word was spoken to me, why? Because this isn't the norm for me and he sees it wasn't my fault.

if he works for a good company, He'll have nothing to worry about (Claims are daily on perishable products)
If he works for an "Eh,Ok" company, He'll probably get a lecture or some other BS.
If he works for an infamous 1099 company that gets their loads exclusively from Brokers...Well, It wont be too nice.
Stuff happens on the road...You can't hold a driver liable for everything..(Like many of these subpar carriers TRY to do) -
