I have a live load shortly and my load instructions specify “2 load locks or straps required”. I’m standing in Love’s looking at a bewildering variety of straps! What do I need? Thanks!
Just get on your radio and buy a couple of load locks from another driver, should be 20 bucks for maybe 4 of them, in the store just get a couple of load locks, because if you buy e-straps which lock into a trailer that has e rails installed in to them ( not all do) makes load locks a safer bet.
I like straps better than bars, but not every trailer is set up for straps, On heavy loads back when I was with IWX sometimes I would use bothput in the load lock then cinch down a strap at the same spot.
The one time I've used a load lock it had fallen off by the time I got to the delivery. I'd rather use load straps but the forklift drivers don't cooperate sometimes and I don't have a load lock rack on the tractor.
add a strap near the load lock double safe , load locks fall out alot. if you put them in tigh enough you may damage the trailer, alway put load lock on top of a support beam
another is to get chunks of 2x4 and some duplex 4" nails . The reason for the double head. you pound the nail down into the board to the first head. then you can remove the nail with out digging it out of the wood with 2nd nail head. you can wedge the pallets in place if your floor is wood. Not advised on Refer floor. also if your not wanting a ton of over priced straps from truckstop goto home depot or harbor freight. they can work in the E- channel walls if you get the smaller hooks that will slide into the channels. good to have when you are getting loads that are suppose to be on a flatbed. But company is determined to have you haul it in a Van with minimal securement.
