I believe we contract the trucks for us only, no shared partials that I know of. My guy who books these knows I take pride in loading full and heavy even though I don't have truck scales at my site...hoping the boss will get off his wallet but its admittedly tight right now so I can't ask too much. We deal with this trucking company on a regular basis and I send out about a load a week. I guess he could have picked one up.

Yea but how much room was left in the trailer for floor space.
Best way to cure that is, if there is a scale near by. Have them comr in with a Current empty scale ticket. Then you will know just how much they can haul
Now this will fire people up, but cut the pay as he could not or would not haul the full ld as contracted

As a rule of thumb a regular truck with sleeper (even large) and reefer should be able to take a load of up to 42K no questions asked. From my experience, this is B.S. that he could not, and typically it means that they wanted to take a partial load, to boost their rate.

Good God. If I roll with less than 51000, my boss is jumping around like a lunatic. But, I pull tanker.

Sounds to me like someone wanted a light load, and he's driving an armor plated truck, making him bat #&!' crazy....

If you start off empty and leave 20' empty at the back: that's where the partial goes.

How heavy should a refer trailer be? I do tankers. 1/2 fuel and an empty tank I'm 31,800. Not all tank trailers are equal. Granted if I lost weight I could 40lbs off of the total.

I'm heavy and even then I could scale 43k full of fuel. Maybe he has an old trailer that's water logged?

56 for me. My lightweight is 40 with only 100 gallons of fuel the tanks hold.
