That's ridiculous. I used to work for MBM and the tractors all weighed about 20,000 (more or less, I think that's a pretty fair number even now) and the trailers were heavy. Two or three zone reefers, 50 gallon reefer tank, metal floors and a lift gate. And we always figured it at about 40,000 empty. Some trailers weighed less, but 40k empty always meant you would make it, even teaming.

the lift gate weighs like 1500lbs, no way this guy weighs 43,000 with a one zone reefer trailer.

Well..... Ok I know I'm gonna get some flack but. I have a stock Volvo 780 with a D16 I pull a 53' Kentucky spread axle with a sb3 reefer. My empty weight is 50,500 lbs. I carry about 2000# of equipment on this trailer so stripped down I would guess 48000#.

This was a standard reefer. It was not a spread axle. Folks guessing partial load reminded me I forgot to include something...We always close up the truck and put on a Metal Ball Security Seal. We write the Seal # on the Bill of Lading. A copy of the BOL and other load paperwork is the last thing put in the trailer before it is closed and sealed. The driver gets a copy of the BOL and a copy of the BOL with the Seal # goes to the destination receiving employee. So unless there is a way to defeat and re-attach a Metal Ball Security Seal (which I am guessing there is) we aren't the front end of a partial. As for getting him to unload and then go weigh empty and report it to me...I don't think his company has time for that ...they probably have another load for him to run right away.

I can get almost any mty ticket you want. Make sure it has the right trk and trl numbers on it. All Cat scale tickets will have a date and location stamped on them for future reference. I got this strange feeling you may have gotten burned on that ld. Good luck in the future on this matter
Oh go to Cat scale website and you can find all of their scales near your location for future lds.

I thought about it more, there's some places that load x amount unless you show up with a cat scale ticket. Might be something worth doing in the future.

Seems like I remember back in the refer days A Century with a 53' reefer could, and did load stuff to 44K and make weight everytime.

I only ever had one load cut, and that was in Montana in February cause there was like 5K worth of snow and ice stuck to the truck, so they cut 1 pallet. They had their own scale, everyone scaled in / out. Same rate paid as booked.
