Airplanes are expensive as hell but some airlines make money.

IF you can make money depends a lot more on YOU than any other aspect.

Fuel is not cheaper, I pay the same as the OTR guy. And I know what you mean. It depends on the market and the freight.

Where are you located? Is there a vibrant local freight market? And how many outfits are you competing with?

Me, I am leased to a carrier, and haul automotive freight, expedite, Detroit area. Rates are terrible right now, as everyone and his brother is jumping in, buying trucks, with the booming economy and slashing rates to keep their drivers paid.

To many variables to even think of giving you a straight answer. My only saving grace is that everything I own is paid for, house, truck, etc. I have no debt, so I can ride this out.

    AlexT Thanks this.

After you get your truck lease on to a local gas hauler since you already have your HAZMAT and tanker experience. You'll be home pretty much every day.

    AlexT and Ruthless Thank this.

Definitely every weekend. Plus sometimes every night, sometimes the odd night and sometimes not at all during the week.
