Nope, nothing to win here, just curious to see some opinions on the split sleeper birth rule. This is an ACTUAL log from today, slightly edited to not give away the answer, but all the changes of duty status are spot on. BTW, I went off duty the previous day at 10pm.
Any violations? What do you think...

true!!!
ok dont ask me....everytime i try to use the split berth i get yelled at by my log checker....i can never remember wheather the 8 hr or 2 hr stops the 14 hr and how it affects the 10 hr...all in all i end up doin it wrong ...so i dont do it ....lol -
Looks okay to me. -
legal on face value.
providing the previous days log just prior to your 10p.m. - 8a.m. break doesn't show more than 5 1/2 hours of driving.
meaning... if this is your first split its good if its your second then it depends.
ok... now I'm confusing myself...
which isn't that hard to do... but still...

Well according to DDL, there were NO violations on this log.

Sorry but that is not a split break?
You started your day # 0600 and you stopped driving BEFORE 8:00 pm.
What did you do prior to this day and what did you do the day after? I don't see a 10 hour break because of the day before or possibly day after?
Now if you took a 10 hour break up to 0600, then your 14 hour was reset and your 14 hour clock ended # 8:00 pm (2000) and you did not drive over 11 hours between 0600-2000, now did you take a full 10 from 2015 to 0615 the following day?
What drivers don't understand when they have a log violation you must look at the last 10 hour consecutive break and go from there. If no violation and you are just asking,, you need a picture of what you did the day before to know if you are in violation. I see the computer you entered it in on (or the auditor did) shows a violation though??
Enlighten me so I can pass this test

See my questions, this would help clarify and please follow up on the answers so maybe you will make sure you understand split breaking because drivers really need to know their options. Just me preaching about split breaking.

You don't know what happened the day before or after (the day before being the most important).
So we can't say yet -
Looked like a proper split break to me. Went off duty at 10 pm. Bunk for 8 hours. took the mandatory 2 hour break later.

The 8 hour break stops the clock (however I don't like that phrase because the clock doesn't stop
, what I express is it extends the 14 hour window/clock. So if:
You start lines 3 or 4 # 12:00 am and do a pre-trip line 4 for 15 minutes then your 14 hour ends # 2:00 pm. Now if you drive 6 hours (being total 6.25 hours total on the 14 hour clock) take an 8 hour SLEEPER break, your 14 hour will now end # 10:00 pm, because you had 8 hours in the sleeper it will extend the 14 hour by that many hours. If you have 7.75 hours, it's considered as a 2 hour break and you would need to stop by 10:00 pm for # least an 8 hour SLEEPER break. That's just the basics of split breaking, the easy/hard part (I feel it's very simple to split break, just learn it you will see) is after that 2nd break (being the last of the 8 or 2) what do you do. That's what most need to understand and I say don't give up, keep trying to learn it and eventually when you do you will REALIZE how EASY it is to do!
Keep asking me questions or the board.
I have been told (I say this to get you to understand many drivers have said this) I explain it very simplified compared to others, the problem is we are doing it over the computer. Give me pictures like the one above and I can help you even more, however I need from the LAST 10 hour CONSECUTIVE break to really help
