Redwave, there is a big difference. Airline pilots are scheduled to fly by operations within FAA regulations. The airline companies would never push you like trucking companies push their drivers because the airline companies are held accountable. Trucking companies are not. But that will soon change with CSA2010. Then the trucking companies will have no choice but to schedule accordingly. You think it's the truck driver and in most cases it's not. When you are backed in a corner with ###### if you do, ###### if you don't, you are going for the end result, the paycheck.
A truck driver is an expendable commodity while pilots are respected.
Johnboy, it all depends on the job. if you are running union or LTL or a dedicated account, of course it's easy to say that. I like to see you haul Tyson or other perishables and keep a 100% straight log. You won't have a job long.

Condo, companies like Tyson have been around for the 27 years I've been driving. Early in my career I did haul some of their freight. And from what I hear they are still doing it the same way. I won't haul their freight, I don't need too. I am on a dedicated run for the most part, I do haul an occasional produce load out of California, but am dispatched to do it legally. I probably am spoiled, I go back to the same customer every week. I for one am a strong advocate of CSA2010. As much as it will hurt some drivers I truly feel it will benefit the majority, and I consider myself one of the majority. My hope is that with all the changes on the horizon, mandated EOBR's, CSA2010, and other things, this industry will have to change. I'm talking about shippers/receivers, trucking companies, drivers and anyone else associated with commercial vehicles. Just my 2 cents. -

What? I'm off duty! I'm not loading the truck, that's why I gotta pay the stupid lumpers. I even have a reciept. Nope I'm off-duty, and what I do with my time is my buisness. If I want to inspect the fine varity of processed cheeses in the break room vending machine, it's not work. If I want to ponder the mystery of what, exactly, is that smell in the bathroom and do I need to alert the local coroner, it's not what I'm paid for either. So why am I on my back under my tandems poking at my slack adjusters? Ummm,,, well,,, I'm a REALLY big fan of Bendix and I wanted to see the improvements in their latest design! Much better than Westinghouse!
