I've been driving 5 years and never driven during the DST change. Time changes Nov 4 @ 2a.m.
Do I just do my normal deal?

Since we are "falling back", you have to count that hour twice if you're driving or on-duty.
So, for example, if you drive from midnight until 11AM, you'll be in violation since there will be twelve hours during that span. In other words, you can't drive the same hour twice, as it were. Also note it on your log. E-logs will do it automatically.
I've always managed to avoid it, too. Just easier than having to think, especially as I get older!crb Thanks this. -
Got it so I can still drive 11 actual hours. That is what I thought. I don't normally touch the 11 hour mark anyway.

The way I've always done it is to be either off-duty or in the sleeper berth across the time change. Go to line 1 or 2 just before 2AM on daylight savings time, and then wait until after 2AM on standard time to get going again. Flag the duty status change, and note that you went from daylight savings to standard time. You'll loose about an hour in there, but its a clean way to do it.
...you were going to take a pee break, and get some breakfast weren't you?crb Thanks this. -
Thought about that too. -
mark down 11hrs sleeping on your paper logs and call it a day
-
Correct. Same is true when we "spring forward". You can still drive 11, but it'll take 12 on paper. Unless the government gets involved again, at which time it will take....ah, faggettaboutit......crb Thanks this.

Sorry I log it legal and have to drive this year.
-
who said anything about being illegal?
sheesh -
one day a year your logbook can show 23 hours for the total, when you spring forward, and one day a year the daily total can be 25 hours when you fall back. But all of the other rules still apply.
