Sleeper berth means you're in the sleeper (or otherwise in the truck). Gonna have a hard time explaining how your truck and trailer was stolen while you were logged in the sleeper. or how did you get any quality rest/sleep in the sleeper while you're truck was being worked on? ... really? If split sleeper is an option and possibility for you, then log sleeper to give you that option if you need it later and have drive time hours available. If split sleeper is not going to be an issue, then I see no reason to log all sleeper as opposed to the way it is.

Off duty is only used when your released from all duties. So unless your at home or on a 30 min break you log sleeper berth.

So if you're in Denny's hitting on the waitress and otherwise trashing around (sleeper berth), you're really "on duty" and monitoring the security of your truck and load from afar or with some sort of wireless camera? They pay you for that?

I'd tell you to stick that violation where the sun don't shine. If you cant prove it you must acquit. If the glove don't fit you must acquit. How do you like them strawberries.

A super trucker is always on duty. I'm at home, but if I go take my bike and head to the truck stop to make sure nobody has turned off my reefer. You think I'm going to log it. I could be logged in the sleeper right now. I just chose to put off duty. Unless you have a GO PRO helmet e log cam. SLEEPER BIRTH FOR ERR THANG :)

No that's how you end up doing a lot of stuff for free and getting no sleep. I use to do that. Now I get paid hourly. I log every minute and I still make 3000 miles a week and I get paid for every minute that I'm working. No more loading, unloading, washout, fueling all in the sleeper berth just to make a pick up. If you can't run legal and still make money your doing it wrong.

Just pointing out facts driver. That's why this industry is falling apart is because guys log like that so the companies are getting a lot of free labor. I normally have 20+ hours a week on line 4. So that's 20 hours a week that I wasn't logging before . That's 20 hours a week the company was not having to pay me for work I was doing. Would you go to any other job and work 20 hours a week for free? Hell no you wouldn't. So why do drivers do it every day? It's wrong. They should have to pay us for every minute we are performing work related to our job. But if they can get free labor and guys just let it keep happening who's gonna say no? Surely not the company.

Hey my friend. You sit your Hourly tail down and take some notes. Some people love this job. This industry can't afford to pay everybody like that. What we are doing is providing a service for the american public. If they were to pay us like that the price of everything would go up. So you couldn't afford neither could the other people afford merchandise. Somebody key the national anthem. Do you hear the star spangled banner playing do ya. Mattbrn. Do ya. We do it for America. We do it for the blue collar workers. For the ones behind the scene. For the waitress, the mechanic, the police men on patrol For everyone who works behind the scene. Do I need to say more :)
