I can't figure out why International will put a Cummings in the Prostar but won't put it in there flagship truck. I must say I took one to Edmounton, Alberta and was impressed with the drive and feel of it but can not do a Maxxforce engine. I will not buy a Lonestar without a Cummins.

The Lonestar is certainly not their "Flagship" truck. Lonestar sale numbers are very low compared to other models. International has just brought back the 9900i series due to customer demand, which is higher than the Lonestar. The Prostar is still their #1 model out there. As far as Cummins is concerned, you just need to be patient. They just can't start dropping in ISX's like before and roll them out of the factory. This is the new generation of common rail, SCR ISX with all new and different aftertreatment systems. Everything has to be redesigned to allow the chassis to accommodate the new Cummins. International is releasing it in stages as they are ready. Not only that, but Cummins cannot keep up either. The transition has to be gradual, not instant. On top of that, International dealers have been without Cummins since about 2010 so there is a huge empty training gap for the technicians. They are scrambling with training courses to get everyone up to date with the new fuel and SCR systems. All this takes time. International started putting Cummins back into Prostars first simply because they are a more popular model. This was staggered at first, but is now in full swing. 9900i are now back into production with ISXs. As of this summer, the Lonestar model is scheduled to accept orders with a Cummins engine by the end of the year, with limited production starting in the first quarter of 2014.

The Lonestar will be available with the Cummins ISX this fall, roughly October 2013.

We have a couple of new 9900i in with the new Cummins. Way nicer to work on than a Lonestar. In a Lonestar only about the front 1/3 of the engine is accessible.
